What's the best wireless router for the money?

My Linksys router is three mos. out of warranty and they want $32.95 for tech support now that it's having issues, both with my wireless and wired laptops. F that! I will gladly go with a competitor now. What's the best bang for the buck out there now?

Second Dave's recommendation with Netgear. My Linksys router was 1 month out of warranty and 2 of the 4 ports stopped working. They could have cared less.

Bought a Netgear and its worked great for 3 years now. I support who supports me and Linksys did not.

My Linksys wireless router has been working fine for about over two years now (knock on wood). I had a Netgear router that went tits up after about 6 months. I'm not sure there's a big difference in quality between the various consumer grade wireless routers. Perhaps you should consider something that's commercial grade, or just keep a second router as a back up.

Look in the Fri/Sat/Sunday Phoenix news papers and Frys Electronics has specials all three days. Down I-17 to Thunderbird, head West two blocks and the store is on your left hand side.

Cheapest prices on computer parts in town or even times on the internet.

A/B/G routers you are probably ok with either Linksys or Netgear. FWIW, we have been using more Netgear lately. Home Office Gig switches are another story. . .

all i know is that the bride's wireless router the boss said to use at home is their in-house hopped up linksys router. Money is no object with them.

I was told to not touch it. Not to even reset it or it goes back in to the shop.

After three Linksys router/APs failed, I bought a Netgear and had no further problems. I use Apple now, so not currently using the Netgear.

The (non-Apple) consumer-grade router/APs only cost $50 or so, so a failure is more of a hassle than a financial problem.

Linksys is the best sadly, Netgear and Blekin and Dlink all have issues with certain VPN's ATT, Cisco, etc...

Linksys makes good stuff, I've got an AP that is quite a few years old. I've got a switch from them that is also quite a few years old as well as a router I use in my entertainment center.

BElkin, dLink and netgear would probably all fall to second place. I don't know about support because I've never had to use it. With products that are inexpensive and out of warranty really what do you expect? How long is the warranty anyway? Did you buy it with a CC that might extend the warranty?

What kind of trouble are you having with it?

Looks like all the various routers have their lovers and haters. I don't know what the problem was, but it got worse itoday, even when I plugged a laptop directly into my cable modem and Cox tech support said their signal was fine. As I was about to smash my Linksys router, my wife walks in with a NIB one, exactly the same model I have. She'd had it packed up for years. I think my router and modem got jealous when they sensed another in the room and everything is working fine now. No idea what happened. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any neigbors' unsecured networks here. There were lots of them where I used to live.

You might want to check whether there are any hardware or software updates for your router. I had a problem a few years ago with my linksys router (54G wireless one) and downloaded an update from their website and no issues since. Have probably had it for 4-5 years now.

I have linksys, netgear, and dlink. All are the cheap models and all work fine. The last couple I bought were refurbished units for about $30 and they work great.

I just returned all of my Linksys router,etc. Now I have an AT&T's 2Wire.
