I too have seen the water cooled flat 4 in several VW and 914 models over the years. I was really surprised at how close of a "clone" of the flat 4, the water jacketed Subi engines were. They were also very simple to wrench on.

I have a '04 turbo Suby engine with 14,000 miles with a FULL auto bus trans going into a 68 911.

Thats my next project

+1

would be fun in a SWB 911!

although i'd have to buy ear plugs too...i cant stand the sound of WRXs

Who thinks that guy is an idiot? I bet he posts faster lap times than a lot of people on here. Lets think about it. Twice the power at less than half the cost. Mods are cheap and motors are abundant. At least its still boxer powered for those that care. I know a guy in AZ (kcpaz) that has an NA 3.3 Tribeca (I beleive) motor in his car. Reliable, great torque, cheaper parts, more power....

I have all that save the flat piston configuration. Actually, I have everything but the pistons. Less cost and 330 hp Turbo II swap out of an FC RX7. :)

13Bs and EJ20s \ EJ25s rock, some of you guys need to open your minds!

better than a V8.

A wrx motor in a 914 is on my "one day" list. The 914 that was in excellence a few months back with the wrx motor is one of my all time fav porsches....just below the 993RS clone that was in there.

I think engine swaps are cool so long as its done with skill and a result that preserves chassis balance. I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

Whoever asked the seller this question:-

Q: is the old porsche engine in good working order? If so i would like to purchase to put into my 02 wrx that needs a engine..thank you 18-Apr-08

A: the wrx engine is in good working order and from same model as yours. no porsche engine.

I thank you.:D

Well, the seller misunderstood the question so he's probably an idiot. After all look at what he did to a Porsche!! Well, I guess they all can't be fast.

LakeCleElum 04-18-2008 06:46 AM

I like that guy as that asks the Ebay question:

Do you still have the old Porsche engine, so I can install it in my WRX?

Too funny!!!!!!!

Funniest post on here to me in quite a while.

berettafan 04-18-2008 06:07 PM

if my son were calling people 'tard' i don't think i'd be proud of it.

definitely like the turbo flat4 into 914 conversions. wouldn't do it to a 911 myself but it's interesting.

cgarr 04-18-2008 06:28 PM

I like it! but then being a gruppeb weirdo why not!

stomachmonkey 04-18-2008 07:17 PM

Get over yourself. Don't particularly care what you think. Kid's a grade A student and very well mannered. And just because your to stuck up to tell the difference, it was said in jest.
Your kids must be just perfect, if you have any.

The inside of the door is 911 SC, not 993.

I'm not on nopistons but I have lurked there for a while. I am on rx7club though. I'll have to make a post on there.

Jims5543 04-19-2008 05:17 AM

FYI -There is another 911 with a rotary on there.

Nopistons is good for the tech articles, the people dynamics are not that good.

RX7Club is huge but full of pimplefaced 15 year old know nothings that know it all.

You really need to meet up with us the 1st weekend of Nov for our Dragon meet.
