WRX Powered 911, WTF!!!

What an idiot

I don't think he's an idiot at all. Would probably make a cleaner conversion than any v8, and makes decent power. Used subie engines are less expensive than a 911 rebuild.

GothingNC 04-16-2008 03:52 AM

I like it !

widgeon13 04-16-2008 03:57 AM

It's a PorsaRu or a Subasche.

I rather spend 2 grand putting a Ford V8 in an old Volvo wagon.

Porsche-O-Phile 04-16-2008 03:59 AM

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Jim Richards 04-16-2008 04:08 AM

I don't think I like that in a 993. Maybe in an SC, but certainly not in a 993. ;)

Palum6o 04-16-2008 04:34 AM

This will be a lot cooler in about 10 years.

lol, my youngest lad, 11, exclaimed, " what a knob, that's a freakin' 993, he's definitely a 'tard

Porsche-O-Phile 04-16-2008 04:57 AM

Haha! I owe your son a beer (or whatever beverage is appropriate for his age) if I ever meet him. That's great!

Good kid. Keep that one moving in the right direction!

I agree, although I wouldn't do this to a 993.

If I could find a Porscharu made out of a 912 or a mid year, I would buy it and use it as a daily driver.

What about a 996? Heck, it's already watercooled, so less hacking.

Hey, anyone notice the car has a 915 transmission? Can a 915 be swapped into a later car, or do you think it's a 911 with a bodykit?

914 guys have been doing this swap with WRX engines for awhile. Alot more interesting than cramming a SBC in there.

It's still a flat-6.

Scooter 04-16-2008 06:54 AM

Just a quick look tells me that I don't think that is a true 993. The deck lid hinges are not from a 993 and the deck lid is not from a 993. The door panels are not from a 993 and the 915 transmission is a dead giveaway. I can't really tell anything more without additional pictures.

Tobra 04-16-2008 06:54 AM

No, turbo flat 4. Seen these in 914's before, brutally fast

porsche4life 04-16-2008 12:52 PM

If it was in the US i would buy it at that price... prolly more dependable than the 944.

scottmandue 04-16-2008 01:15 PM

What would the HP number be? Subi turbo Vs 993 turbo?

jmshepard 04-16-2008 01:20 PM

The EJ20 version is 315 bhp. It looks like an aftermarket chip takes them well above that figure. They are about $1000.00 on ebay. A rebuild on my 350,000 mile 911sc several years ago was $8000.00 and rebuild on the top end to correct valve guides on the 993 was $5000.00 2 years ago. I can certainly see the economics.

MattKellett 04-16-2008 01:22 PM

OK, maybe I'm reading the auction incorrectly, but I don't think he's selling the whole car with engine installed. I think he's only selling the engine and components for an engine swap!!

Matt
