James Bond's Aston Martin goes for a swim

Came across this interesting story about the Aston Martin that was to be used in the upcoming James Bond film. I guess the driver was being a little too enthusiastic when delivering the car!

It seems the driver was not wearing a parchute (as James would have been) & he did not know how to make it swim underwater (like James' Lotus).

The Associated Press

ROME (AP) — The car being used in the latest James Bond film plunged into a lake in northern Italy while being driven to the set.

Producers say the driver of the Aston Martin was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. They say James Bond's iconic car was being delivered to the filming unit in heavy rain on Saturday morning when it went off the road and plunged into Lake Garda.

Italian state TV has shown footage of the smashed, black car being hoisted out of the water.

"Quantum of Solace" is the newest film in the 007 series. It stars Daniel Craig and is due for release later this year.

The driver was only slightly injured? Maybe Bond really was driving.

I don't know how he got out of that. Musta been tight, but if you're underwater with no air, you can probably do some unhuman maneuvers. What a shame, now that we know the driver is somewhat OK. I'd love to have just the platform of that car.

quantum of solace, crap title for a Bond movie if you ask me

also heard that in the next movie, he'll have to turn down the womanizing another notch, he only gets one Bond girls this time

Bond just ain't Bond anymore, Pierce Brosnan was ok in the beginning, then managed to look fat coming out of a North Korean torture camp, and the new kid on the block just doesn't fit the character that Fleming wrote down.. eg.. raised from diplomats, in posh schools, turned womanizing gentlemen spy with licence to kill...new one looked more like a street thug in Casino Royal...

Actually, that is a Bond title from an Ian Fleming short story.

For a moment there I was afraid this post was about the [I]original[I] James Bond Aston Martin...that would have been a tragedy.
