Cool Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) - PPOT online racing?

My copy should be here tomorrow. Anybody else have it or getting it and perhaps interested in a little PPOT online racing action in the coming weeks?

As I recall my PS network ID is "cjcam"

My son just got this game and says it is the most realistic racing game he has ever played and I should try it. I suck at all those games and tend to use trees and guardrails as braking aids. Perhaps I'll give this one a try and if I can keep the car on the road in one piece, we can do some racing.

Oh no. I always said that GT5 will be the reason I buy a PS3, but I'm still only 82% of the way through GT4....

+1

I did not know it was released. I am so out of the gaming loop.

I was kind of hoping to see some refurb PS3's on the shelves so I did not have to pony up so much money for a console.

I will probably wait a couple of months for the hype to die then I'll pick up a GT5.

Is the GT5 coming out the GT5 Prologue? I recall reading that the GT5 Prologue would come out first, with about 75 cars. The full GT5 to follow will have something like 900 cars, and realistic damage. At least that's what I've read.

My son is starting to enjoy playing my old GT3 on PS2. Sounds like it's time to buy HIM a PS3. I'm sure he won't mind sharing it with his dad.

This is the Prolog version, the full version won't be out until 09. The big draw for me is the online capabilities. At the moment I am playing TOCA Race Driver 3 online and it is a blast. I will wait until the end of the year to get the PS3 and the full version.

I'll set my soon to be 5 yr old son up with an account so he can whip your butts.

He cut his teeth on driving games with Burnout so he LOVES to bump n rub.

Correct; it is "Prologue". I did get it today...will not have much time this weekend but will fire it up right now to take a look before I pass out. I'm hoping my Logitech wheel + pedal setup from the PS2 will work on the PS3.

I think you need a different logitech wheel for the PS3.

Actually my wheel works fine, woohoo! The game is far more limited in features, cars and tracks than the full deal ie GT4, but it's fantastic anyway. Out of town all week again but will fire it up again next weekend.

Got my copy in the mail last night. Excellent graphics, started working up through the races. Need more practice with the controller. Who's up for online racing this weekend?

Started my B last night, then went exploring the online racing. That was very addictive. Just wanted to try it out and ended up playing an extra hour.....groups people by car choice, so the racing is very close. Driving the integra R, man it pushes really bad. I'll buy something better tonight. I didn't see any way to host your own race or control who you race with though. Anyway to set up a pelican only race?

I'm on as jhelgesen if anyone sees me there.

The online racing is pretty cool. My wireless connection went idle right as I was coming to the finish line, brutal. I may have to hard wire my PS3 network.

The Integra R is better than the Daihatsu you get for passing Class C though. I also thought the VW GTI would have more power.

Well, the M3 wasn't the car to buy, classed it in the super cars and not in the sports cars, so I got dumped in with ford gt's and z06's. Guess I'll sell it and try the 1 series.
