Gunny from the History Channel

I had the pleasure to shoot next to the guy that has the History Channel Show about GIs and their weapons, I think they call him Gunney. Sorry for the misspelling but you all get the drift and who I am talking about. His show has him, a retired marine, showing all the different weapons the US has in its arsonel. He is a straight shooter, the real thing, a great GI and Sempter FI and all. Its always a pleasure to meet someone that is the real thing. This guy is a real GI and his TV show presents the real attitude of the military, the go get um, succeed way of the marine corps. He is also a pretty darn good shot to boot!

His first big role was in Full Metal Jacket....he was brought on as a consultant and ended up getting the role as the drill instructor. Initially the role was intended for Tim Colceri, who I study acting with sometimes on Tuesday nights up in H.Wood. ...Tim is a great actor and teacher, but Kubrick gave the role to R. Lee instead as he had been an actual drill instructor...and had Tim play the psycho helicopter gunner aka 'get some'.

In real life does he yell in normal conversation like he's hazing a recruit, or is that just his TV voice?

I saw him once on NBC being interviewed by Matt Lauer and Lauer asked him a question about Bill Clinton. He retorted back "Do not use his and my name in the same sentence ever again!"

 R. Lee ?????

UNBELIEVABLE! Couple of weeks ago I was channel surfing and I saw R. lee in a movie. Hadn't seen it before, so I started watching.....Next thing I see is our buddy R. Lee holding hands with a man quite affectionately. Then they swap spit...swear! a lip lock. I was stunned. couldn't believe it . R. Lee Ermy kissing another man?????"Holy Dog sh_t, the gunny is a peter puffer. I don't know what the movie is called and don't want to see it. I was crushed and forced to change the channel. I cant watch him anymore and take him serious. Actor or no actor, R. Lee compromised his devil dog status. He is now an X Marine! Anyone know what the movie is called?

Saving Silverman. If you actually watch the whole movie, it's actually quite funny.

I loved him in Se7en. I met him just walking around at the SHOT show in Vegas 2 years ago. Shook his hand and shot the breeze for a few minutes. Very nice guy, and when he looks at you, you stay looked at. JP

Ermy is always at the Glock Booth at the Shot Show. Wearing his solid Gold Rolex. Some people who have met him say he is/ can be a real prick.

He reminds me of some guys I know. Hard core son-of-a-*****s that will not take any ****, and do not suffer fools at all. But if your down on your luck, and you are someone they consider a good person, they will give you the shirt off their back, and the money out of their wallet.
