Clothes dryers..... Propane or Electric?
In NorCal, which do you suppose is best, cheapest to run? Propane is running $2.79/gal.

If you are not in a rush line dry your stuff.
Natural dehumidification is about as cheap as it gets. I love putting on a pair of line dried jeans, they are kind of hard and stiff but after 2-3 steps turn into butter. And your clothes will last longer.

I just got a natural gas dryer and not only is it cheaper than electric, but it dries faster too.

Down the road I might put solar panels on the roof and generate my own electricity. I'm not likely to produce my own natural gas . . .

I guess I could rig up some clothelines in the basement, where the washer/dryer are. Maybe a fan to circulate air too.
Does anyone think the extra humidity in the basement, from line-drying 4-5 loads a week, would be bad for a house? It doesn't seem so to me but what do I know.

I think the basement's humidity would be bad for the clothes (musty). Just an opinion.

Propane is expensive here (SW desert). Electric is far cheaper. Guess it all depends on your cost, but I went with an electric clothes dryer. Then again, a wet towel hanging on the line dries within minutes! 0% humidity x 100deg. F = optimal clothes dryer.
