Easiest way to fiddle mileage

Found out that my 911 might be worth more if I can wind the clock back a bit.

Currently has 125,000. More realistic if it was 35,000.

Would it be easier to :-

a) Buy a new speedo with the relevant mileage

b) Stick a drill in the back of it and wind it back

c) Put it in reverse for the next 6 months

d) Drill a small hole in the glass and fiddle with the digits.

Any further ideas ....................

jail bait is right.

Alright, given the post today about disconnecting the speedo on an '88, this is obviously a troll. One post.

Don't get riled up. Just ignore it.

As I said, don't get riled up. I've been waiting for a time to say this: we all make mistakes, we make fools of ourselves now and then, we make faux pas.

But, by tomorrow morning, no one can remember who said what, only the good stuff about what to do to these cars to keep them running in top shape.

Think about it. You saw something really stupid said here. Who was it? :D

You're cool.

Are you a chick? If so, please post pictures of yourself...

Dantilla 04-28-2008 04:22 PM

Leland? Are you back?

cgarr 04-28-2008 05:02 PM

Just rotate the tires (front to back) and drive it south of the equator for the next year, you should be fine..trust me!

Jeeze...I used to unhook the speedo cable on my dad's '56 Buick, so he wouldn't know how much cruising my buddies & I did. But these newfangled cars with electronics controlling everything? I wouldn't have a clue...;)

slodave 04-28-2008 05:07 PM

I'd just buy a new speedo with no miles on it, put it on the shelf until I was ready to sell, install and presto, instant no mileage car!

vash 04-28-2008 05:07 PM

two post in the post count???

i think it is the same guy.

I've heard of people doing the same to Hobbs meters as well.

...yes, even those with "redundant 2nd ones"!

I'm like Grady...so old, I can remember when dirt was rocks! Dad's '56 Roadmaster was just 2 years old when I first unhooked it's speedo cable.

Keep breathing...you may become as lucky.

Dantilla,

+1 - I wish Leland would come back. He is funny and doesn't take himself too seriously.

Buy a speedo with 34,000 miles. Start in LA then drive west for 1000 miles until you reach 35,000 miles.
