My Dad Could Use Some Prayers

My Dad was admitted last night with some heart issues. He is 84 years and with the exception of a hernia he got from lifting too much weight 2 years ago is in great shape.

He has always had a heart murmur. My twin brought him to have is annual physical yesterday and the Doc didn’t like the sound of his ticker.

They went to a cardio guy and the cardio guy had him admitted. They are going to scope him today. My Bro said that they think he may have a leaky valve and maybe some blockage.

This man is my hero. The finest man I will ever know. I'm busted up only because I am not there. Of course I wouldn’t be able to do anything but being so far away just feels like I am more helpless than ever.

Maybe you guys can talk to your Gods and pray some. It might help. It can’t hurt. I sure would like to have him around a bit longer.

If he was not having symptoms and it was caught on a routine exam he should do well.

If your Mom is still with you, keep a close eye on her through this, eating and sleeping, that sort of thing.

Just got off the phone with my Brother. My Dad has some blockage as well as something called a cardio lapro regergitation which is a little leakage I guess. The Docs will try to fix the blockage with drugs - not sure it the rest can be cured with drugs or not.

Anyone know about this stuff?

BTW - thanks for the prayers and kind words.

BRPORSCHE 04-29-2008 06:20 PM

Prayers going you dad's way. I am not a very religious man, but it's the least I could do for you lube.

Joeaksa 04-29-2008 06:39 PM

Mike, you and your family are now on the list. If things take a turn for the worse, head to where-ever your Father is. Work is not that important and family is...

Ditto number 25..

They have airplanes now Lubby.

The house doc is most likily right about the outcome of this. Anytime a surgery is done it is risky..I don't have a clue if that is in the cards or not, I defer on that one?

It might not be a bad time to go and tell him what you told all of us. That you love him. well again anywayt can't say it too much...

I will Pray for you and the family.
I am very sorry, Godspeed!

Errr, what? Get some more info Mike. That's garbled beyond what can clearly be guessed. PM me if you've got a question.....

Thinking of your Pa (where's he at?)......

Ya, it was info from my Twin Bro who has a big heart but sometimes science and med terms get him all sorts of confused.

He has some blockage which they will take care of with medicine (anti-coagulants?) as well as a valve that has slight leakage. They are not going to operate on the valve - I guess it is not that serious but it does produce some murmur. They will how ever look to give him meds to optimize the heart in order to offset the leaky valve.

M.D. Holloway 04-30-2008 08:08 AM

Looks like he will be in a few more days. They have started the blood thinner meds.

I just got off the phone with him. He sounds great. He said the nurses are cute and the food is actually pretty good "beats the shyt out of micowave food" he said. He met another war vet - been swapping tales.

He also has big plains on his sponge bath! Date night for the ol timer.

Rikao4 04-30-2008 08:40 AM

great to hear Lube,
so instead of a stress test, he's going to boink the nurse.
Like Tab's mentioned..if it's been some time since you seen him..
get going...or have him hang in the Texas heat for a bit.

Rika

Clot in a heart artery? The leaky valve sounds minor.

speeder 04-30-2008 03:56 PM

Hoping for the best! Sounds like he's going to be alright, though.
