anyone have a use for this? industrial pH analyzer...

i have a hach ph analyzer which i want to sell.....tried ebay but didn't sell, i have seen these sell there for $500+ with the meter and probe, i've been using it to monitor my aquariums.
$300 takes it if someone can use it, i'll sell it to someone on the bbs before i give ebay one more shot.

it's really the cats ass for ph meters.....

If anyone is considering this, don't hesitate, GET IT!!
I use the exact same model to monitor the pH in my reef tank. I went through 2 other meters before I bit the bullet and bought a "53". Makes me cringe a bit since I think I spent almost 3x that!

BTW, what size tanks are you running? Are they salt, brackish...
I keep toying with the idea of upgrading to a 500gal reef, but I think I will have to wait until my daughter is out of day care!

jeeze I wonder if I could use that to measure the acidity of my filtered vegetable oil.

Is it designed for use in water only??

i used it for my freshwater tanks, but we are moving in the coming months and need to finish off a couple projects and need the $$$........
the probe give you a ph and temp readout on the display.
i shouldn't have had any problem getting $500 off of ebay for it, it's just one of those things where i had lot's of watchers but no bidders.....but i'm not relisting it again and paying more fees.

i had 2 75gal and a 55 on a single sump system which this monitored, i really don't want to sell it....but like i said, i need the $$$
i recently tore down all my tanks and am selling everything but my sumps, including my 350gal which was almost done being built.

fs i have
1 75 (3/8"glass) with matching stand/glass lids/florescent light $200
1 55 w/black iron stand/matching lids/lights and a 40L w/lid/light for $200 (the 40L needs a new brace in the center)
1 75 (1/2"glass) tank only for $100
1 20L $20
1 20h $20
1 60 breeder w/broken bottom glass $20

1 350gal plywood tank/stand (it's 6ft wide/2ft tall/4ft deep), needs 1/2"glass, lid, not epoxied yet but i have 2 gallons of sweetwater epoxy. $150 could be a sweet reptile tank also

when we get relocated i'll be starting a new monster tank from scratch....

What am I missing? I've had an 85 gallon reef tank for years. Only thing I check is salinity and nitrate, nitrites? I work at a chemical plant and have access to those high dollar Ph meters but guess I'm clueless when it comes to how Ph might ruin anything?

it really depends what kind of fish you keep, i kept oscars which are very sensitive to big ph changes, let's say the ph went from 7.6 to 6.6 within an hour it would put the O's into a state of shock and the related stress could kill them. this unit has 2 programable alarms which can trigger relays for buzzers other whatever in the event the ph or temp gets out of whack (i.e. failed heater, overloaded filtration etc).
the ph gives you a general overall idea of how well your filtration/bio-system is working, it's the best way imo to keep a close eye on the overall quality of the system.

different types of fish live better in certain ph levels, chiclids are very sensitive, almost comparable to some saltwater species imo

"What am I missing? I've had an 85 gallon reef tank for years."

That is a pro and con to a larger reef setup. Sure it takes longer for a larger body of water to vary from stable. But once it begins to go, trying to get it back to where it should be is a true PITA, and usually very costly.

I haven't really had any problems keeping my reef stable, other than my Calcium levels. But with a whole bunch of SPS corals and a huge clam my calcium could drop by over %15 in a day before I added my Ca reactor! As for the pH, it's more for the peace of mind to know the tank is not going to start on a run-away course!

i am hashing the idea out on the veggie forums. Some people think that it will only measure accurately in water
