A New Gas Buying TIP

I will not post it here ,There is a EM going round. Says in short " Do not buy Exon Or Mobil pruducts" . In short, if they are boycoted they will drop the price so will every one else.
I say give it a whirl, nothing to loose !

Ditto unless I'm totally SOL. With you and me both boycotting, it seems they haven't dropped their prices or gone out of business. We better get back at it, and boycott them even harder.

Today I converted their quarter profits to the savings per gallon of gas they sold to Americans... $1.67.

Fun fact, but kinda baseless given that gasoline certainly isn't their only profit center, and that's applying their global profits to US consumers. It still kinda stings to see them doing so well when a tank of gas is over $80, doesn't quite feel like an efficient market yet.

Exxon had one of their most profitable years last year but they still only made about 10% profit. That doesn't seem excessive to me. What am I missing? Should they give it to us? I'd be more concerned with the dropping dollar that's caused most of the increase in the value of oil.

Ditto. I think I've only bought at Exxon twice since then.

Funny thing too - in the town where my wife's parents live, there is only an Exxon station. When I used to go visit her I'd have to plan my fill-ups around not having to fill up at the Exxon (it was about 60 miles from where I was living at the time).

I'm sure most of the lemmings out there have long since forgotten about the incident with their TV-inspired attention spans, but I sure haven't.

I have Royal Purple in the 911.

A lot of guys seem to be jumping on the Brad Penn bandwagon these days too. Where it comes from/who makes it ultimately I have no idea.

Exxon and mobil are the same company.

That e-mail has been going around for years, perpetuated by the gullible and un-informed.

Last quarter, XOM made 11.23% profit margin.
This quarter should be lower than that. They made more profit, but on considerable larger sales volume so the percentage of profit should drop a little.
Not exactly staggering, is it?

XOM made significantly less money on a gallon of gas than the government made on the same gallon through taxes and the hildabeast proposes a windfall tax on oil companies. What windfall?

Mobil? What's that? Shell or Chevron, that's it. I used to buy Union like for 30 years, but I'm convinced it's not the same formula now that they've been bought out.

Remember when the stop smoking campaigns got some steam? The cigarette cos started diversifying and working on selling in foreign markets. I don't know what the various cig cos bottom line is these days, but they can't be still in their hay day AFAIK.

When we stop smoking gasoline, the oil cos will take their capital into other ventures. They better be as good as the cig cos because otherwise, they will all consolidate into a monopoly. Not that they aren't almost there now. The big oil will always be with us, but I see their hay day on the horizon with tougher times to follow

This has been going around for several years. Read the snopes.

False. It does NOT work.

Gas (and oil) are fungible products. Mobil and Exxon and anyone else will just sell their product to other companies.

The ONLY way for us to lower the price is to use LESS gasoline.
