This Picture TRULY Brings A Tear To My Eye!

A race car in its former glory judging on the flares and the lexan side windows...truly sad to see...a neglected ultra rare bird

Wouldn't be any less difficult/expensive to restore that than your average "cheap Porsche". Get busy.

Wow. The 2000GT is the only Toyota I've ever really desired.

Where's it at?

2000 GTs are six figure cars today, so there would likely be fiscal room to bring that back to life.

Would love to know if that had any competition history of note, but I'm guessing not much, or maybe some local club stuff well past the car's prime, judging by the tacked on flares.

I thought that at first too, but 2000s are pretty valuable, even in that condition, so I thought it might be something else

Not the best picture, but they came in various styles (some with the second side window too) and the tail lights were up to the person building the car.

At first glance I was thinking maybe a CHeetah, but the roof and rear deck is wrong now that I think about it...

I was in charge of that display at the historics where those shelby2000GT cars were on display. I have some connections regarding those cars, if you could get a VIN or ID number I could make some calls and track down the history. One guy I know has about 13 of those cars, there are less than 50 known to exist. he might even buy that one!

That is no worse than the 1972 911S that is sitting up on the desert here in LV. I tried for over 3 years to get ahold of that car leaving messages on the gate every so often. I finally ran into the owners sister who owns the property where it is located. She said no way would it ever be sold. So another great car is left to a lingering death.

James Bond drove a 2000 GT in like the 3rd movie. In person they are really well proportioned and very handsome cars. I don't know for sure, but it may have had the forerunner (sorry ) to the 16 v DOHC engine in it, but it was a 6 with the OH cams.
