It bothers you because you are a thoughtful, introspective man. That is not so bad is it? |
Jim,
The question(s) you need to ask yourself: How did this make you feel: It's either anger and/or sadness. The bigger question is what specifically were you angry or sad at. This is a very deep statement. On the surface was it him, the car, his attitude; but you don't believe it. What ever triggered you feeling take a deeper look at what ignited it. On the surface the guy is arrogant, apparently has the resources/credit to buy a car and he isn't as good as your driving ability. This doesn't seem like, to me, it should have made you feel the way you did. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. So..........ask yourself what really got to you. My guess it has nothing to do with him. |
Jim
The bottom line, This tool brought a Ford GT to an autocross? I mean WTF? A Ford GT? Clearly he came for validation of his self-worth based on his posessions, not TTOD. I have driven with you. Hell, I have driven with Bill. You both could kick his ass in a Yugo. |

The exact immediate feeling was bummed out. The residual feeling the next morning was not anger but more hurt because I felt I just got my face rubbed in poo. The consolation was I was 2nd fastest at the event being beaten by a National Champ in a brand new 40K S2000 that Honda is purpose building for motorsports. Here is a in car, well on car, video from the day, I took a guy I had not seen for 3 years for a ride after he asked me. As you can see it was all left handers and he actually helped me out by riding along getting me my fastest time with 180 lbs in the passenger seat. But that is not the point, the point of me posting this video is the laughter in the car, we were joking back and forth while I was driving. You can hear him laughing over the engine in the car. Its about having fun in life and I do. I came out to have fun, I had fun, my son came out to get more experience photographing cars. It was fun to see a lot of people I had not seen in years. Thats a fun group there. I am over it, I was bummed for a day or so but I realize now it was stupid to envy others possessions. I love my RX7. I like the way things are. I would not trade it for the world.
1987 Mazda RX7 at Autocross Paul - Thanks Bro, he also does not have Bill and not having Bill is missing the boat IMHO. |
Jim,
I gotta tell ya, I still giggle like a little English school girl when I think back to the last weekend with Bill. That was some real man-time driving. I have shown the in-car vids to some of my peeps. They were impressed to say the least. One person wanted to know exactly where were the guardrails on that mountain road? Ummmm .... those are called trees was my response. I may also have recruited a 993 guy to join us in the future. Now excuse me for a moment. I need to go out and erase any video evidence of the "Southern Run" that may stilll exist on the Intarwebs before my insurance agent stumbles upon them. |
