"Fastest Street Legal Sports Car"

Saw this on Autoblog this AM:

Less than 2000 lbs. and 900hp.

edit: Looks like some of that funky new F1 aero on the front end.

Excerpt:

Quote:
Billed by its Swiss maker as the world's fastest street legal sports car, the faster one's ugly-but-aerodynamic carbon fiber body covers a vehicle that weighs in at a scant 1,984 pounds (900 kg). That mass is distributed 50:50 and is propelled by a 900-horsepower/774 lb-ft twin-supercharged V8 that begins its life as a garden-variety General Motors LS7 before Weber tears it apart and rebuilds it to its own specifications. The twin-blown eight is then mated to an in-house-developed 6-speed sequential gearbox. Power is directed to an intelligent AWD system (also developed in-house) that can send a maximum of 36% of power to the front wheels.

Stated performance numbers are of the astonishing variety: 0-62 mph in 2.7 seconds; 0-124 in 6.6 seconds; 0-186 in 16.2 seconds; and a top speed said to be over 248 mph. Helping rein in the insanity is a set of 12-piston, 15-inch ceramic brakes supplemented by the car's motorized rear wing, which, like the Bugatti Veyron's, doubles as an air brake when necessary.

I hope whoever buys one gets some track training...

Looks like a buck-toothed fish.

If the didn't have that split in the middle of the grill, it would probably look much better. Very ugly, but better.

The front edge curves look like a thin moustache. Like the ones the French wear.

Looks ugly on both the car and the French.

Uh, aren't the Veyron and Koenigsegg both faster than 248mph?

Yes Bugatti is faster top end at 253...theoretically if this thing hits its interval numbers, it is a few tenths faster than the Veyron to 124 and 186

Quote:
Forget the 660-bhp Ferrari Enzo, the 605-bhp Porsche Carrera GT, the 617-bhp Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, or even the mighty 627-bhp McLaren F1. These supercars are simply slugs compared with the new 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 (16.4 for 16 cylinders, 4 turbochargers). This $1.2 million "hyper-exotic" boasts 987 bhp (1001 metric horsepower) and 922 lb.-ft. of torque, enough to propel the 4160-lb. beast to a top speed of over 250 mph. And according to the factory, a 0-62-mph acceleration run (0-100 km/h) can be done in 2.5 seconds, 0-124 mph can be reached in 7.3 sec., and 0-186 mph in 16.7 sec., faster than you can re-read and comprehend the astonishing stats.

I think a Kawasaki ZX14 does 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Hell of a lot cheaper than $1.2M (like two orders of magnitude less).

It must have a terrible Cd. It doesn't look near as wide as the Veyron.
