Thanks guys! I'm going to fight this as hard as I can. I appreciate your prayers and concern. This forum is more supportive and comforting than I would have ever imagined it could be. Turns out that the people I've "met" while owning my Porsche are as wonderful as driving the car, maybe even better!

George,

Thanks for the info, it would be interesting to find out if there's a link to my disease from my time in the sand! That might explain what the Dr's are finding as they tell me the type of findings they see are rare. At least my disease isn't dull and boring for them...

I told my wife about your situation and sent her a link to this thread. She was very upset and said why do bad things happen to nice people?

It runs in your family, I suspect something in your environment or diet may have accelerated or aggravated the trait.

I'm no doctor, but I do a mean Google search.

Sounds like a new liver is an easy fix should it come to that. I would not take Larry Hagman's though.

In any case enjoy your "Red Breast" while you can, but not before the bio.

Thanks guys! I'm doing the best I can and my family is very supportive (my mother and father don't know yet). This still doesn't seem real but each day it gets more real and I need to stay positive and not think about things I can't do anything about. This forum is a great way to stay positive. Thanks so much!

Toughest part, so far...

The toughest part of this situation, so far, is telling the people who have to know and seeing their reaction. I hate doing this to people, I wish I could keep this whole thing a secret so as not to stress people out...

I could keep this whole thing a secret

Are you thinking of this a change in your life or the end? It's not the end, so that makes it a change.

If it's important to you then it will be important to those that know you. It could be on a need to know basis, is the horse out of the barn?

I don't see an easy way around it either way.

"need to know" basis

George,

I'm handling this as a "change in lifestyle" versus the "end" until I find out otherwise. I'm using the "need to know" approach and I'd prefer that the minimum number of people know. My mother and father CANNOT know about this (for several personal reasons). My immediate family, close friends and a very few coworkers and boss need to know. I don't want everyone asking me "how are you feeling today", that would drive me crazy. I want to live my life as "normally" as I possibly can. Thanks again for your support and compassion!!

Cool, I know you are strong and smart about things.

You will survive this with personality and character intact.

As long as you look relatively normal and healthy you will be surprised how quickly people forget about you illness and move on to other things. This is not a bad thing either (them forgetting that is).

I just had my biopsy today. The procedure went smoothly and nothing about it was unpleasant until I came home, took a 3 hour nap and woke up! Holy moly, does this hurt!

wow, heavy. Smart to shield the folks if you can, worst thing in the world is your kid sick with nothing you can do to help. Keep in mind that folks will also get a little bent about you not telling them too.

Be cool, stay away from tylenol
