Everything is on track. The financial crisis gve us a blip since RM #1 is in the biz at a low level but thinks he knows how to play the market. He is secretive about his cash but RM # 2 told us in a panic that he came very close to losing big on a margin call. He actually borrowed on a CC to cover it short term.

On the plus side, their crap has now taken over our living room as it makes it way to the door for Nov 1. I rented the truck so it's looking like all systems are go. :D His mother is going crazy as she realizes that the nest is truly emptying.

I can't wait . . .

You should attempt to restrain your enthusiasm...NAH :)! Good for you Ian...

I'm surprised you didn't hire a mariachi band to play while they loaded the truck.

I know I would have. ;)

Yes, the Reign of the Room Monkeys has ended.

I deposited them into their 535 sq ft box in the sky http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat3.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/boldblue.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/ura.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/drummer.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/pint1.gif The move went smoothly & tonight will be the first night that my wife & I have ever lived together alone without one of our collective spawn in residence - other than our overseas holidays. That is, whenever she gets home from her business trip. She timed it very well: she missed Halloween & the move. But when she does, it just might be Margarita night tonight. ;)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . .

Rick, you have no idea how happy I am that you were. The financial crises & new landlord issues cropped up & added some doubt but it is done.

They desperately need their independence - both individually & as a married couple. It is a mandatory stage in growing up. But both my wife & I will be fascinated to watch how they divide the drudgery - cooking, cleaning, loading the dishwasher, taking out the garbage etc. She is a princess & a spolied rotten product of China's one child policy & he is the North American 'almost' only child poster boy. They are both incredibly lazy - but of course, we let them be that way so there is no one to blame but ourselves for their lack of effort while resident in our abode.

And thanks for the best wishes guys.

Congrats. This is a great night indeed. I suspect you'll sleep better tonight than you have in a long time.

Now if only I could get rid of mine (not nearly as bad as yours). He's improving. There's hope yet.

Glad to hear it Ian.

Come to think of it, I moved out but I left a lot of my stuff behind. This time I am moving even farther away and will possibly leave even more stuff behind. I'm out of the house, I guess they can't complain too much.

Cheers!

Edit: oops, too late....I just caught up with the thread.

This seems appropriate too:

Just to wrap up the thread before it sinks into wherever old threads go . . .

Some photos (on a dreary day) from the RM's 49th floor balcony. Of course, this IS Toronto & the builders didn't want to limit their options when selling the condos. There are no # 4, 13, 14, 24, 44 floors so really they're on the 43rd floor.

Looking north up Spadina

A closeup so you can count the Red Rockets (streetcars)

Looking east from his balcony. CN Tower & SkyDome.

Very small place but a nice city view. And if you lean out a bit, you can see a bit of the lake in both directions. ;)

Do you miss them yet?

masraum 11-02-2008 06:08 PM

what's up with the floors that end in "4"? I'd heard of 13, but not 4, 14, etc.... Is it an Asian thing?

I think the Japanese have two words for 4 because one sounds like the word for death or something like that.

nostatic 11-02-2008 06:12 PM

Heavy Asian population?

4 is bad luck in Asian culture - the phonem for the character sounds similar to "death."

Bingo. That's why it suits RM # 2 so well. She can talk, shop, work & live immersed in a mixed Asian culture.
