It's mind-boggling that Porsche are so late to the party with this gearbox. Particularly since they raced the PDK way back in the 80's with the 956 before anyone else even heard of auto-shifted manuals!!!

As cool as that is, might it have been cheaper to try and figure out a way to get the torque curve flatter?

More gears implies narrower power band which implies very non-flat torque curve. Or maybe I'm just reading into it too much?

Probably reading too much into it. We live in a world where more is better. So a 7-speed gearbox must be better than the 6-speeds used by the competitors (except for MB, who already use 7-speeds). My 4-speed is like a historical relic, in comparison. Should this be in green?
