During the 1992 presidential campaign, when incumbent Vice President Dan Quayle made a spelling mistake, the media had a convulsive wet dream over the mistake.

We all heard about Hillary and daughter dodging all that sniper fire.

On Friday, Barack Obama, told an Oregon audience that "I've been in 57 states, (with) I think one left to go."

He now gets his new lapel pin (as many wanted him to wear)

They common defn of Hope is:

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of despair, wanting, wishing, suffering or perseverance — i.e., believing that a better or positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary.

Now, back to Pandora (and her box) the story sez that when Pandora opened Pandora's Box, she let out all the evils of mankind— greed, vanity, slander, envy, pining— leaving only hope inside ... for a while.

(per Wiki) Apparently, the Greeks considered hope to be as dangerous as all the world's evils. But without hope to accompany all their troubles, humanity was filled with despair. It was a great relief when Pandora revisited her box and let out hope as well. It may be worthy to note that in the story, hope is represented as weakly leaving the box but is in effect far more potent than any of the major evils.

To that, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche had this to say about hope:

Hope. Pandora brought the jar with the evils and opened it. It was the gods' gift to man, on the outside a beautiful, enticing gift, called the "lucky jar." So you see Shaun, Obama's Potatoe is Hope. Obama sells an evil to weak minded individuals like Lottery tickets for a bad cause. --Apparently, you're buying.

Where is everybody hastening to point out that (1) "potatoe" is a correct alternate spellng and (2) that was "correct" spelling provided on the card given to the judge (including Quayle) to determine the proper spelling?

Or was it "fatigue" or some other lame excuse?
