Can U spell potato, dodge snipers, name the states?
During the 1992 presidential campaign, when incumbent Vice President Dan Quayle made a spelling mistake, the media had a convulsive wet dream over the mistake.
We all heard about Hillary and daughter dodging all that sniper fire. On Friday, Barack Obama, told an Oregon audience that "I've been in 57 states, (with) I think one left to go." He now gets his new lapel pin (as many wanted him to wear) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1210858135.jpg Or maybe he was channeling his real roots??? The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations. It groups 57 nations, most of which are Islamic, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkan, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America.;) |
Your hate won't stick. clearly tongue in cheek, kidding about his (any candidate's) travel schedule.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Kidding?
I don't think this is a big deal at all but you don't actually think he was kidding do you? The man screwed up, big deal....but he screwed up none the less. |
You didn't get the intonation, the pause, the ssssseven, casual smirk, the HI and AL?...he was joking about his schedule, nothing more. Folks that feed on hate seem to look for anything to destroy hope.

Maybe he was borrowing from an old Steve Martin joke about going to see a nude show in Vegas after having a few too many to drink..."wow, look at all the t!ts!! Why, there must be...57 t!ts up there!"

Would-be Attorney General John Edwards, that lightweight vehicle for moving a $400 haircut around town, threw in his gravitas behind Obama yesterday. That should help. |
I'm as much of a gun-totin' conservative as they come, but that looked (and sounded) like a joke to me.
Much ado about nothing. |

I think he actually meant 47. He looked worn out.
Not that I'm a fan, but I do believe he would know we have 50. JR |

______________________ Ohhhh ...too bad. (and your redundant 'rolling eyes' was unnecessary.) No hate here kid. The pathetic truth is: if BHO were a WHITE, male, Demo. candidate, running on his 'policies' (?) he would be on the sidelines by now, (ala J. Edwards) endorsing the still standing Demo. candidate. My attempt was to AGAIN point out the media's liberal bias. They beat the shyt out of Quayle over his stumble, they sat on the Hillary 'bullet dodging' for (how many months?) and did you see any of them even mentioning this amusing gaff? (Also ...note the smiley face at the end of my post ...only one necessary) Unless you are trying perhaps too hard to explain your boy????:p |

Obama's Potatoe
Quote:
So let's see here, has Shaun opened Pandora's box? They common defn of Hope is: Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of despair, wanting, wishing, suffering or perseverance — i.e., believing that a better or positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. Now, back to Pandora (and her box) the story sez that when Pandora opened Pandora's Box, she let out all the evils of mankind— greed, vanity, slander, envy, pining— leaving only hope inside ... for a while. (per Wiki) Apparently, the Greeks considered hope to be as dangerous as all the world's evils. But without hope to accompany all their troubles, humanity was filled with despair. It was a great relief when Pandora revisited her box and let out hope as well. It may be worthy to note that in the story, hope is represented as weakly leaving the box but is in effect far more potent than any of the major evils. To that, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche had this to say about hope: Hope. Pandora brought the jar with the evils and opened it. It was the gods' gift to man, on the outside a beautiful, enticing gift, called the "lucky jar." Then all the evils, those lively, winged beings, flew out of it. Since that time, they roam around and do harm to men by day and night. One single evil had not yet slipped out of the jar. As Zeus had wished, Pandora slammed the top down and it remained inside. So now man has the lucky jar in his house forever and thinks the world of the treasure. It is at his service; he reaches for it when he fancies it. For he does not know that that jar which Pandora brought was the jar of evils, and he takes the remaining evil for the greatest worldly good--it is hope, for Zeus did not want man to throw his life away, no matter how much the other evils might torment him, but rather to go on letting himself be tormented anew. To that end, he gives man hope. In truth, it is the most evil of evils because it prolongs man's torment. So you see Shaun, Obama's Potatoe is Hope. Obama sells an evil to weak minded individuals like Lottery tickets for a bad cause. --Apparently, you're buying. |
Where is everybody hastening to point out that (1) "potatoe" is a correct alternate spellng and (2) that was "correct" spelling provided on the card given to the judge (including Quayle) to determine the proper spelling?
Or was it "fatigue" or some other lame excuse? Just askin' JP |
I like definitions too:
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) |
Obama has gone further that Qualye, not just to insist that he has the right spelling for his potatoe . . .he wrote a book about it. . .he campaigns with the word front and center.
HOPE --I'm selling, if you're buying...prolong your torment |
Hope is the mercy that God is the creator tomorrow. (MH).

Here ...troll this (aren't we in off-topic? duh):
So here we are …with the first chance (although, slim-to-none) for a woman or black man to become POTUS. But isn’t it interesting theater how the country is now ‘taking sides’ (as if we should be surprised)? “Oh, you can’t say (whatever) about B.H.O. …you racist S.O.B.!” “Hey, you can’t say (whatever) about Hillary …you friggin’ male pig!” “Why, McCain is a War Hero …you socialist bassturd!” Here’s my suggestion for all future elections: Put all the candidates into a large cardboard box. (anonymous) Use a CIA/FBI/NSC ‘scrambler’ to distort their voices (no gender/ethnic tells). No T.V., no photos, no You Tube, just AUDIO. O.M.G. …we would have to actually LISTEN to their policies/plans/positions/etc!!!!! Would we get a POTUS that was not much more than a beauty contest? ___________________ Dreaming , I know, too many other variables to do such a comedy …but where is all this heading? The Female Party The Black Party The Gay/Lesbian Party The Old White Angry Man Party The Women Against Doing Housework Party ...et al |

Of course the biggest problem you have is your introductory false premise. You can't build an argument on a weak foundation, though I'll give you credit for building in a little Clinton-esque wiggle room with your use of "seems." I'm on to you young man!:p |

They're called gaffes, and they're fair game for anyone who wants to make something out of them. After hundreds of campaign stops and speeches, a candidate is bound to stick his foot in his mouth once in awhile. I don't have a problem with it.
FWIW I don't have a problem with anything Bam Bam says, cuz I'm not voting for him. Hope and Change are not policies. They're not legislation. They're not anything. How about some actual details!! McCain laid out what he's planning in a speech yesterday. He's for nuclear power, securing the border, and withdrawing from Iraq in a timely fashion. He's against earmarks. He's against government take-over of health care. These are all policies I can get behind. He's totally wrong about global warming and campaign finance reform though. But you can't get everything you want unless you ran yourself. |

So let's examine that. Shaun seems to imply that Hope is a good thing . .. that those being against hope are hateful. The latter half of your premise is false, some sort of herring I think. And I'm sending you the dry cleaning bill for my trousers. Bad dog, bad dog! :D |
WHich part?
This? ... Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of despair, wanting, wishing, suffering or perseverance — i.e., believing that a better or positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary. |
that those being against hope are hateful.
latter typically means the second of two items in this context. |
Maybe Obama thought he was running for president of The North American Union. That would give him 50 plus 11 in Canada and 31 in Mexico. Fascist types like him would probably support spreading his socialist agenda over the entire continent and creating an oppressive central government. We know he has had a long love affair with communism and he has never given any indication that it ended.
Of course, many Republicans have advanced the cause of centralized totalitarian government. Is there anyone left to defend our Constitution? |
