What Will You Do With Your Stimulus Check?

As the poll says . . . I am curious about what people plan to do with the money. I forgot to add a fifth option (I'm not getting a check), sorry.

tcar 05-15-2008 12:50 PM

Income Redistribution Check?

livi 05-15-2008 12:53 PM

I take the fifth (option). What the heck is a stimulus check. Nothing of a sexual nature, is it??

sammyg2 05-15-2008 01:50 PM

You forgot an option for those who won't get one.

Seric 05-15-2008 01:52 PM

My mechanic is currently sucking the stimulus check into his pocket...

dmcummins 05-15-2008 01:57 PM

I'm not getting one.

mudman 05-15-2008 02:08 PM

I spent mine on gas (not kidding)

jyl 05-15-2008 02:39 PM

Yes, I messed up. That would be my option too.

US govt is sending checks to most taxpayers, in hopes of boosting consumer spending and helping the economy. People with incomes above a certain level ($250K/yr I think?) or who lack a social security number do not get the money. The total being sent out is something like $100BN (lost track of the exact details). This was done during the last recession also. Opinions differ on how effective or wise a step this is. My personal opinion is it is a terrible idea. But President and both parties in Congress felt otherwise.

Bought my wife a cheap Compaq Presario and will spend the rest (+) more traveling to San Diego for the US Open, second week of June. Putting it all back into the economy.

Rick Lee 05-15-2008 03:40 PM

I'm paying my Arizona vehicle licensing taxes with my tax rebate. I want to make it a point to always do the opposite of what the gov't. wants me to do.

Moses 05-15-2008 03:42 PM

I'm still waiting. I'm sure the IRS won't forget me. I've been a great customer.

Shadetree930 05-15-2008 03:43 PM

No check for me. I will take the fifth option.

Zeke 05-15-2008 03:52 PM

I put some new kitchen flooring I laid myself on a CC. I was gonna use my tax refund to pay it, but that's gone to just live. I'll try again with the new check even tho it won't be as much. I was gonna get a couple slabs of marble for the counter top, but I guess that will wait. Going on over 2 years now remodeling the kitchen. The money just isn't there to spend. Some damn bill always get in the way.

I made 17K last year as a contractor on sales of 50K. I spent 15K on the house payment. That left me with a buck and a half for everything else. Sure glad the wife has a job or we'd have no heat or electricity.

In better times I could sell 150K and do it all myself. I'll never see those times again in my life.

A couple hundred bucks for "stimulus" is a total joke. If you get the max, maybe you could do a vacation or something fun. My joint return won't get much back in this deal.

Hugh R 05-15-2008 04:29 PM

Not getting one. Spending $25K on hard wood floors with post tax money, does that count as "economic stimulus"? Effing government.

Jim Richards 05-15-2008 04:51 PM

Stimulus check? WTF?

BTW, you're welcome.

trj911 05-15-2008 05:24 PM

stevej37 05-15-2008 05:24 PM

Thanks Jim, a fellow Pelican designed these shirts for me, Nicolas Hunziker.

After India f'ed up Spring 09 production to the tune of losing 75% of sales...I had to bring shirt production back to the U.S. My new motto is "low margin is better than no margin." Pants and jackets have to be done in India, with a trusted supplier, because there is no U.S. manufacturing option.

Moses 05-15-2008 07:01 PM

How did I miss those? The shirts look great!

YTNUKLR 05-15-2008 08:39 PM

Seriously, Shaun, those shirts rock! Can I check out your lineup (I wear a medium)?

I am a lucky SOB that gets a check...going to put it towards my trip to SE Asia...

Right. Thanks. Like a national Christmas bonus.

red-beard 05-15-2008 10:27 PM

I was reading someplace that the only things still made in the US are guns and hookers. So now you know how I'm going to spend mine.

If I get one...

thanks, fall 08 is probably our best season so far in terms of design. all I need now is a miracle bridge loan to have them finished in June.

Tishabet 05-20-2008 07:01 AM

straight to the student loan!

The Gaijin 05-20-2008 07:03 AM

Shaun - do you have an on-line store?

Shaun @ Tru6 05-20-2008 07:19 AM

We don't, not allowed to, but we are in Z'Baby and Babesta in the City (also just got into Apple Seeds on W25th) as well as online at

http://www.maxandmaudes.com/little-traveler.htm and and a few others I can't remember now.

they have Radu's RSR and Nicolas's Carrera6, Gurney and Stewart T's. I want to do a run of the RSR for adults, just haven't had time.

The Gaijin 05-20-2008 07:30 AM

Thanks.

930LDR 05-20-2008 07:30 AM

You're all welcome.

12own911 05-21-2008 01:34 AM

We make beer here, too. Lots of good local microbrews which deserve your check. I had a great locally made stout last night that was seriously almost as good as a Guinness. Mmm, good.

flashgordon13 05-21-2008 03:45 AM

My check is stimulating new brakes for my car.

berettafan 05-21-2008 04:56 AM

our purchases are what they are but it's helping to pay for:
bedroom furniture (had same cheap stuff for a LONG time),
batteries for the 911
trunk carpet for the 911
alignment for the 911
deck on rear of house
lord knows what else.

71T Targa 05-21-2008 05:11 AM

A much needed vacation.

And many thanks to those who contributed so that I could receive. :D
