Hey, I got that job! (no not employment)
With all due respect for Art and others that have it way worse than me, I'll poke a little fun at the economy.
This from a previous thread where I posted: Quote:

If I'd known you were looking, I'd have met with you about my hardwood floors that they're doing as we speak, $25 large.

I don't do floors for others. I won't hire anyone to do anything at my house. I do it all from electrical to roofing. But, that doesn't mean that I will hire out for those things. I hate plumbing, but I have all the tools. I don't tell anyone that I can do it and they don't ask.
But floors are an art just like the doors I hang. You get good floor people and you get a great job. I read your thread about the hardwood floors and I think you're going in the right direction. However, 25K is a lot of floor. I'd say you're doing about 2000 feet. That's more than a 3rd more than my whole house! Anyway, it will be fun to go do something besides what I have been doing all week here at home. Which is.....floors. And my knees are toast.

Have you ever thought of doing something "stupid" for the upscale retail market like custom high-end doghouses, play or tree-houses?

My job field is absolutely going crazy. Have gotten 3 job offers in the last 24 hours, and the shortage of pilots is just in the upswing.
Glad you found something. The news just came out on the BBC that while America might be on the verge of a recession, it does appear that we are also powering out of it, so lets all get to work and stop worrying about the future.

milt,
I wish you the best! Remember that one of these tiny jobs may result in you getting a great job! I was looking for IT work back in '91 when I got out of the Navy and a woman needed help with WordPerfect. I showed up and helped her out and she took my resume and got me several interviews, one of which turned into my 1st IT job. I had sent out over 200 resumes with no bites at that point, so I was shocked and thankful for the chance to get the job! Good luck!

Milt, you make me feel good, about the price yeah it's about 2,150 sq. ft. The rest of the house will be tile in the bathrooms and laundry room. Leaving the formal living room carpet since it never gets used and the 10 y/0 carpet is essentially new. The guys who do it seem to be very, very good at what they do.

Ahh. The wood. That will lead you to things good and bad. Quite an adventure, I would say!
