I pretty much agree, Gill is what he is. He's got good reach and he kills penalties well but he's not exactly mobile.
The west is pretty good. I thought San Jose would meet the Wings, I saw a lot of the multi overtime game but not all. I think Calgary has a decent team too. I cant believe the Flyers took a pass on that Iginla for Gags deal a few years back. The Sens need a wakeup call, the Flyers have a nice young nucleus, the Pens have a better one. The Habs look promising too. After that the East is pretty barren. No offense to anyone's team. Really where are the Rangers or Devils really going? I would almost say the Islanders have more upside then those two. I don't know jack about the eastern teams down south. I guess with Ovetchkin Washington has a good young team too. |
I love the game of hockey, I don't love the NHL. My 22 month old son was running around all weekend with a stick in his hands. I snapped a composite one piece stick in half on a faceoff months ago and I was saving the lower half. I shoot rightly but he was holding it lefty. He's started to be right hand dominate with his eating so according to the Canadian way, which I believe is correct, he should shoot lefty. I am thinking a swift skating puck moving left handed defenseman.
Oh and my Little Flyers 1999 AAA team won the weekend tourney in the 1998 AA division. |
I agree trader. My 2 year old loves watching it with me. He even raises his arms and yells score! when there is a goal. He is going to be a righty though, I got a couple of those little sticks with the team names on them, and he loves em.
I also still love playing, I head to Lake Tahoe in a couple of weeks for a tourny, so that should be a good time. Bill |

Believe me, if Homstrom can get penalties when he is OUTSIDE the crease and not even touching the goalie...than the Pitt player can too when he is INSIDE the crease elbowing the goalie. I have to give Osgood credit, he has had a very good career...near HOF numbers when you compare what he has done vs. some other goalies that are in the HOF... but now his game is better than ever...he is seldom out of position, seems a little quicker then he was 10 years ago, but maybe that is a result of better positioning and anticipating the play...also he doesnt give up the big rebounds which lead to second chances.... on the other side Fleury seems a bit uncoordinated, maybe too tall and leggy and he gives up more rebounds than Pamela Anderson. He is good, but still young. |

That Superbowl was one for the ages. |
man that Superbowl...the Pats defense dropped 2 easy INTs from Eli on that last drive and gave up that miracle play/catch...im not saying the Giants didnt earn it...they did but the Pats blew it on D.

Hockey can be a fickle game. One minute you are unbeatable, the next, you can't get the puck past the red line. Its never over until the fat lady sings. One key injury or a great comeback at the Igloo and it can be a whole new ballgame. I still feel that the Wings will take it (even more so with a 2-0 lead) but I don't think the Pens are done. They'll have some new plans Wednesday night. I expect line changes, speed changes, even a healthy scratch from the non-productive players.
Oh, and concerning Roberts, that head shot was low for even him. His feet left the ice and he took a head shot at a guy just back from a concussion. That's like a goon in the bar that beats up the 120 pound kid to prove how tough he is. Lets see him try that move on Kronvall. |
Yes, Kid Rock is a Detroiter and Wings fan. "Ain't no party like a Detroit party, cause a Detroit party don't stop". "Lets go Red Wings"

I say we just sit down together and enjoy the games over a tall glass of Guinness!

In my opinion a) the West is superior right now, and b) the Penguins aren't quite ready. |
Redwings played like mere mortals and the Pens played close to their potential...
3-2 GO PENS!!!!!!!! |
I was disapointed to the first goal get let in by Osgood, but it was good to see Franzen back to his old self.
The Pens played well, still not well enough to win the series though. |

The Red Wings actually carried the play again tonight for most of the game...however...there were some KEY turning points which the Pens took advantage of to their credit... the first was the multiple-penalties-in-a-row that the Red Wings mysteriously got nailed with at the end of the first period, after they had been completely dominating the Pens and outshooting them something like 14-1.... the Pens got back into it and used that momentum to score their goals... in the 2nd, the Wings crept up a bit, but credit the Pens for getting that 3rd goal in the final period...most of the 3rd period was owned by the Wings.
The Pens will need an effort like that every single game to get back into this series in a serious nature. I felt that Fluery was the difference tonight, he made some huge saves at critical times to save momentum. As for Kid Rock... a cultural phenomen in the late 90s, came around at the right time, had the attitude...Cowboy actually is a pretty catchy and rocking song but most of that record stinks... marketing, money, good management (he used Bob Seger's manager Punch Andrews) and went for it with no fear. I dont think he is without talent, he can sing somewhat, and actually plays the piano fairly well, guitar too...there are more talentless people out there who have sold more records (such as Master P, P Diddy and Fitty Cent) |

I'm not 100% sure why. Anti-Philly sentiment is very common in Toronto, primarily because Philly has entered the league and won the cup a couple times, while Toronto has continued to languish since 1967. But I hate the Leafs, so that's not my reason.
I think it goes back the the Broad Street Bullies days. While successful, I do not beleive it was good for hockey, and that sentiment lingers. Today there are lot of good young players on the team, and I don't hate them, I just like to see them beaten on occassion. And Bobby Clarke is easy to dislike. I know he's 'gone', but he's always there in the box or onthe radio. But rest assured, in a Philly vs. Toronto game I am cheering for Philly. |
