best wax for a black car?

I just recently got a black BMW 540i and had some minor dents removed along with having it professionally buffed. Other then the obvious, any out there have any special wax that works well for black cars?

I am told that funeral parlors use corn starch on their hearses, strictly hearsay

Lots of info in the tech section on this.

Try this:

What's the best liquid wax/polish for a black car?

But I vaguely recall Bill Verburg had a more scientific approach and evaluated a whole bunch of waxes on a black car - but I couldn't locate that thread.

Don't laugh at the corn starch. I was told by an old timer many moons ago about this. He said the limo drivers would mix it into a paste and the black sparkeled.

I did it on my black cars and it works. No swirl marks.

On my M491 I use P12S and like it very much. Don't even think about waxing in the sun or when the paint is hot!

Cool and cloudy or in the garage.

I've had the best luck with Klasse. I was not impressed with the Zymol. I thought it was too much work for the results.

I've had good luck with Mothers, but no basis of comparison (all I've ever used).

Corn starch?!?!

I have used the 3M Perfect-it final glaze, either by hand or DA You can use their rubbing compound if you have a lot of scratches first.

I'm a Zymol fan. Get it on and off before it dries, and it's a piece of cake. I've had a problem with Turtle Wax and other cheapo stuff because it leaves an oily filmy look on my black paint.

Dad says they used to "dust" it with cornstarch in sock. But this was his XK-150 in the '50s..

to confuse you more, NXT meguiars.

A lot of the problems normally associated with black paint have to do with washing and dryin procedures.
