Van Nuys checking in....WE SURVIVED!

It was touch and go for a minute there, rained for nearly 3 minutes and temps fell into the mid 70's where I was. People got pretty frightened but I think most have calmed down. I haven't heard of any deaths but FEMA is slow to respond so those figures may rise as the day goes along. I guess we'll be having Strom Watch 2008 on the news for the next couple days.
Ahhh don't ya just love Cali?
P.S. Any word from Danica ? Is she alright?

m21sniper 05-22-2008 04:25 PM

I hear siesmologists are saying there's a better than 50% chance that a mega-quake will hit SoCal in the next 30 years, killing millions in mere moments.

So hey, live it up now. Cause one day fairly soon the ground is going to swallow you all.

LOL.

slodave 05-22-2008 04:26 PM

No problems out in Encino. Sunny and not a cloud in sight.

pwd72s 05-22-2008 04:26 PM

Danica? Did something go wrong in practice? I hadn't heard.

58 or so here...rain off & on...well, not really rain, just sprinkling. Perfect weather for running lawn sprinklers after our heat wave.

kstar 05-22-2008 04:31 PM

We just had a sprinkle down in San Diego; it must have lasted a few seconds . . . a really long few seconds.

I think we are currently under a Light Rain Warning until sunset. I've got my Daughter here at home, windows battened down and enough food for a few days. We're not foolish enough to leave the house and get out on the roads under such conditions.

Dave, you have to look UP to see the clouds. Don't you remember from science class? Clouds are UP.

Goodness all those dead illegal aliens....the humanity!

slodave 05-22-2008 04:37 PM

When the big one hits, Cali will be fine. It's the rest of the country that'll sink into the ocean.

I'm looking up. All I see, is what looks to be spread out cottage cheese.

Sweet-mother-of-all-that-is-good-and-holy! Jeepers! I'm so happy to hear you're still there. We have had rain off&on all day over here. Luckily, I was able to work from home most of the day and avoid our version of carnage. I'm doing my best to avoid the local news honks telling me over and over that IT'S RAINING!! Showing me doppler radar from every friggin' angle possible. ugh
The horra, the horra!!

mikester 05-22-2008 04:54 PM

Well, it's raining here in El Segundo...I don't know if we're going to make it the night...

dzls rok 05-22-2008 05:03 PM

oh the humanity! i hope you all make it thru the night!

Hang tuff buddy. I hear there are some school kids in China organizing relief efforts as we speak. Help will be there soon.

More rain here in the desert, so the end is near. They are even calling for snow in the mountains tonight so who knows whats next.

The only way to fix it is to brush it all away.
Any f****** time, any f****** day.

Lightning on the way home, started to rain just as I was pulling off the 405 (one downside to being on a bike). Got in the garage before it started pouring, which it did, for about half an hour.

Weird weather. Last night was odd...was kinda chilly when I left work on the bike. Headed to Santa Monica for dinner, then went home and switched to a warmer jacket for the ride to Highland Park. Temps went up like 10 degrees in half an hour at around 9pm. Cruising through downtown before 10pm the speedo said 77F, with gusting winds. Weird.

Non-consecutive double post? Weird, indeed.

Does that mean Chris and I are going steady?
