Health Supplements - Do you take any?

Just curious if some of you folks take health supplements, like vitamins and such. If so, what do you take and what for - do you think they help?

Best,

Hops, barley and yeast. I'm kind of a health nut that way.

None. I prefer food.

It is a multi billion industry feeding on peoples fear of getting sick, old and ugly. Very little evidence that it has any substantial beneficial effects. On the contrary, starting to turn up more and more studies pointing to potential negative effects in the high doses that often are recommended.

Now, in certain circumstances, like some diseases and nutritional deficiencies, supplements are certainly called for. With an otherwise healthy person a good healthy diet of regular food will cover all your needs perfectly well. The body has adjusted to that during Evolution.

I take multi vitamins and fish oil everyday. I run 3x a week and lift weights 2x week. I still look and feel like crap.

Edit. the multi are from a pyramid scheme company called USANA out of...wait for it...Salt Lake City. Supposedly they are the bomb... The fish oil is straight from your local COSTCO. I feel best when I drink a Monster Energy drink (green or blue is best) and run a couple miles. Follow that with a nice Pinot Noir...

I take the Melalacua daily pack because they wife thinks it does a body good. I don't know. For my part I get in about 40 miles a week on the bike and hit the weights pretty hard about three times a week. And I drink a LOT of water and have cut down on my caffeine to a point where I can actually go for days without coffee or sodas with no ill effects

I've been taking various multivitamins for years. My wife is always buying something, and gets the expensive stuff. I find that I don't feel any different if I start taking them or stop taking them, so I stopped. I try to eat decently.

eat real food: vegetables, fruits, leaner meats, whole grain breads. take all the synthetic "food" out of your diet. it's amazing how much garbage is on the shelves these days.

What he said, I don't need to be kicking hell out of my kidneys by ODing on vitamins. Eat good stuff, don't snack or eat later than 1900 or 2000. It is pretty easy to do when you live where like half the produce in the world is grown. I can't even recall the last time I ate fast food. I read a paper once that said if you quit eating crap out of a can and/or loaded with preservatives that you reduce your chance of cancer pretty significantly.

I don't have a garden and fruit trees because I like having dirty hands, it is because I like to eat.

I do take melatonin at night sometimes though.
