I completely disagree with you that if it was a public sector facility his counterpart would a police officer.

You are 100% incorrect here Sup, I hope you are man enough to admit it. I can give you numerous examples where "public sector facilities" use private security firms.

"His company has one goal, to make money" Uuuuuuuhhhhh, duh. Name me a private sector company that doesn't have that goal.

Finally, I doubt his bosses can just "dismiss" nearly any and all requests for records or information. What mysterious information are you talking about, anyways?

I find your views in labor relations to be spot on, and rarely disagree with you on them, but wit regards to security, you are a little off base.

Now with that being said, I have no clue who the company is, what their processes are for hiring, whether they went low bid, etc.

I live in Miami. A lot of people speak spanish. A lot of people are also gorgeous latinas who only speak spanish. Do you say "Go learn english you darn fornur!" or do you say "Hola, tu es MUY bonita"?

+1 - Miami is a dump. If you visit as a tourist (South Beach, Coral Gables, Keys) you'll think it's grand. Try living/driving/working here on a daily basis.

P.S. - The guard is right. Much more than half of Miami speaks Spanish. I would also add that at least 25% speak no English whatsoever.

now try to get a job without speaking Spanish and you will find even the american companys

and the cuban companys simply do not hire english speaking people

NOW ADD IN TOOO MANY 100,000's of illegals who only speak Spanish
and are willing to work for sub-minimum wages

No, earlier immigrants learned English at about the same rate as the ones today -- i.e. it's really the KIDS who become adept at English & fully Americanized.

I have to say tho - the big difference is that many of today's immigrants are illegal.
