If the Dems get in in November with Obama and a larger majority in the Congress than they allready have, America will turn into Kalifornication. In other words America will fall into the same turgid state of affairs that Great Britain sufferd through in the 1960's. Only there will be one difference the Dems will stack the deck in the name of limiting "special interests" so that unseating them will be nigh impossible.

Do not be fooled the system is not broken. The American people have merely taken a vacation from their civic responsibilities for the last 50 years or so. While economic times were good the American people felt little need to watch their represenatives after all why fix it if it ain't broke was and is their motto.

I normally try to stay out of political discussions here, because it never pays...however Id like to go on record to state that I was a Republican when GW took over... now Im in the middle and could lean either way. This man simply is a fanatical tyrant, misguided by a weird combination of greed, pride, religious zealism, arrogance, lack of common sense, foolhardiness, deception and a whole bunch of other non-flattering qualities. Any person, non-partisan speaking can see this... so lets take the gloves off and call the current situation for what it is:

Our country is in a much worse state now, than it was 8 years ago. Much worse in terms of a terrible war which has cost many lives and many dollars...which we can not get out of, a lack of quality care towards major issues at home that have occurred (hello Fema)...uncontrollable greed by GWs buds in the oil business, and most importantly an economy that is down the tank and will be for a while....this is not to mention the national debt that is so far out of whack, social security and medicare a complete joke, no national health care to speak of, immigration completely out of control which has lead to a further watering down and homogenization of any potential nationalistism... really there are not 5 good things that have come out of GW's administation....

and you want people to just blindly follow the Republican party again??? fool me once...shame on me... so now i have to think about it.

I expect to get hammered by Tabs for my POV...but I dont care....and that goes for anyone who hammers without discussion and open mindedness isnt worthy of debate.

Well Mr Sonic...The Dems have bin in control of Congress for the past 2 years and they don't seem to have made anything get better. As a matter of fact things have gotten alot worse since they have assumed power.

Whether or not the nation falls irreversibly onto the path of inevitable decline and collapse will be determined in the next 5-10 years.

I think it's already too late for CA. It's only a matter of time before the state government here collapses due to the weight of too many handouts, unsustainable policy, excessive bureaucracy, lack of vision and focus and trying to be too many different things to too many different people. Eventually the state will go bankrupt and state government will completely implode. I honestly believe this will happen here. It's just a matter of when.

The same could eventually happen to the federal government too, just not quite sure if we're at that tipping point yet. We're very, very close though. The policy decisions of the next few years will determine whether or not it happens.

Bottom line is that you can't run a government on pyramid schemes. There are reasons that these schemes are illegal but state and federal governments still run them. As soon as you have less being paid into the system than being taken out, it will collapse. Neither party seems to want to recognize this fact, and they continue to want to give ***** away. Farms, businesses, oil, carbon credits, health care, welfare, social security, medicaid, mediCAL, TSA, bridges to nowhere, earmarks, pork barrel spending, whatever....

I know a lot of folks on the left don't think we're in peril and that the rich can pay more but we're seeing the effect of this already. Take a look here:

Seems like gas was under $2.50 a gallon in CA in Nov 2006...much less elsewhere. Now after almost 2 years, isn't gas over $4.00 a gallon in CA? Didn't Democrats gain a majority in 2006 promising to get us out of Iraq immediately and bring gas prices way down? It seems that in addition to higher fuel prices, they have managed to sharplky increase the price of food worldwide. What we need are some adult leadership in the legislative bodies...and that certainly seems to exclude Democrats.
