What is an appropriate graduation gift?

A guy I used to work with for many years, mostly know through work but also consider a social friend. Daughter graduating from college. We aren't going to the graduation (it's 200 miles away), but they are having a little get together at their house afterwards.

What kind of gift is appropriate? Amount and type of gift. Is a gift card ok?

Gift card ok but then why not just the cash?

Nothing beats cold hard cash.

$50-100, depends on how tight you are with him.

man, Target gift card if any. Or one of those pre-paid visas. I think to a college student, any money is the best gift. The most thoughtful gifts are stuff for the dorm room or apartment like a bathmat, kitchen utensils, coffeemaker, and if a dorm, one of those little fridge things. That's why I say Target. I was shocked at how much crap I needed to buy my first year in college.

FWIW, we got a thank you card from Cindy's nephew...he called a leatherman wave "bad-ass"...I guess that means he liked it???

no, that's for PHD graduations, and then you give a Cayenne turbo, so you can actually fit plenty of hookers and blow

for regular graduation it's a Caymen with just blow
