Video of my 911 using my new suction mount.

Okay,

So I bought a cheap suction mount of my digital camera that also shoots video. I took a short drive, driving slowly and also paying a lot of attention to my review mirror to see if I had lost the camera, and shot a short vid. Please no comments about me missing an apex or whatever because I wasn't trying and concentration on the state of my camera. Just tell me what you think and if you have suggestions as to other places to take vids from I am all ears. Right now I am spending 2 months in the middle of nowhere for work so I have nothing else to do but do stuff like this.

Cheers and enjoy!

I don't care for the angle unless you were going to do some right turn drifting
I like the inside cams where there is no wind noise and I can see the busy hands of the driver.

Try mounting it to the rolled up passenger window facing foward

There is potential.

I bought it from 'the source' I think it is the Canadian equivalent of 'Circuit City'. I am not sure if the mount was actually this cheap or it was a pricing error but it was $4. I am sure you can get better ones on ebay or at camera stores. If you want (ask) I will take a pic of the actual mount. It's not that bad.

Thanks, I dont need a picture at the moment but I will look into buying one. Coule it be mounted on the back window of a 944 to give a view from above the car.

Probably, it has a swivel mount. But it really depends on how much you trust something that is $4 to hold a camera that is worth much more. My camera is 'shock proof' so I was not as worried. I think you can get better suction mounts at camera stores or on ebay. I mean...$4, what can one expect.

Cheers!

Ok im not finding much...yet. The camera i would use is a small digital camcorder and it wouldnt be a huge loss if went bad. Might rig a safety rope on it.

I would personally spend a few more $$$ and get something decent. Looking on ebay for 'camera suction mount' a few hits come up and they seem a bit more reliable. You could also go to a camera store and ask.

What do you think of that little baby. Maybe mount it on the windshield or hanging from the rear window to give a neat in car view.

Not bad in terms of providing alternate camera angles to edit into a video piece. However, the threat of it coming loose is fairly high. Not sure how much you're willing to lose a camera. They're not at the disposable level quite yet. I'd opt for something a little more substantial. I'd feel more comfy with a large suction cup and a backup leash.

The last thing I would want is my camera tumbling down the road. If you try to mount one at an AX or DE you better have it tethered then if it comes loose it beats up the side of your car.

Spend a few bucks and get something that is made for this kind of stuff. I have no affiliation but do own some sticky pods and they are really good.
