Israel VS Iran and the Political Fallout in the USA
Yep the biggest event of the last 5 years is about to begin . Israel will try for a knock out of Iran in the first round. Dick Morris allready spelled it out a month or so ago.
Israel is in for a change in management.... a new PM, When that happens Israel will get on the stick and hit Iran HARD beofre the election in the USA in November. Israel will get it done while the gettin is good cause who knows what the political winds will bring after November. Israel SURE DOES NOT TRUST an OBAMA Presidency to support them (with intel) or let them do it politically. This is fast becoming an issue of survival for Israel... Hmmmmm..come to think of it, maybe the quid pro Quo is that AIPAC will support McCAin in Novemebr....wouldn't that be a blow to the Liberal Dems....after all GW probably gave them the greenlight during his last visit to the ME. Also during GW's visit to Saudi land he gave the Saudis heads up. The Saudis have no love for ****ies and most likily made common cause against Iran. So what does this do to Obama's chances of being elected to the Presidency. Since GW and the Republicans signed off on it, the likily response of the Liberal Dems is to condemn Israels actions. However a crisis in the world has traditionally played against the Dems...look for this as an October surprise...or just in time to throw the American election...

I think you're right, Tabs. There will be tremendous pressure in Israel to deal with Iran before November. One thing is certain, Israel will not trust Obama.

Agree on all of the above. Sad that Israel has the balls and public support to do this and our own country does not.

Our own country "blew its wad" in I-wreck so to speak.
Just one more reason we never should have gotten involved in that quagmire to begin with. . .

In fairness to Bush, the people around him were telling him that Iraq was an "easy mark". It was supposed to just be another of many campaigns to follow. At the very least, it was to be an abject lesson to the rest of the "Axis of Evil" states.
Unfortunately for Bush and us all, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, McGregor, Cheney et al were wrong. Doubly unfortunately, it was Rumsfeld and the above named players' own fault that it went the way that it did. I am not yet convinced Israel will strike. Ouuu striking or not.....they have time pressure on them....a deal with Obama and that crew would put a strike on hold. Hillarys reassurance during her campaign was such a deal...and that added money and support to her campaign. Now Obama is getting a taste of what the real world is all about...deals...and if that truth hold sway..then we can say so much for Obama's agenda of change...

Dumbsfeld deliberately overrode the Pentagon's multi-million dollar war theater modeling program that predicted EXACTLY the outcome - that it would end up being a long, drawn-out, guerrilla-style war involving an extended U.S. presence. This is well-documented.
Bush wanted his war. Dumbsfeld knew it. Dumbsfeld made sure Bush got the "numbers" to make it look attractive enough to sell it to Congress. The whole thing was a pre-decided sham from Day #1. Bush was going to get his war come hell or high water, and those around him had to make sure he got it (manipulate/fabricate intelligence, alter war scenario projections, make up stories about WMDs, get on the news and claim that we were "trying diplomacy" and that war was a "last resort", etc.) All the hoops necessary to jump through - or more importantly to LOOK like we were jumping through in order to get the desired result, which was a full-scale invasion. Well, he got it.

Rumsfeld and Co. also actively campaigned against, meddled with, and spied on the US military's warplan for Iraq, a plan that originally called for 385,000 troops (Op 1098-03 IIRC), through his immense influence he had pared down to a skeleton force of 165,000 (Op Cobra II). Hell Rumsfeld even directly overrode the US Army's TPFDL logistics plan.
Then, to make matters even worse, when Baghdad fell Rumsfeld directly canceled the pre-planned deployment of two US heavy divisions that were critical for securing the nation of Iraq once it fell. It did't help either that instead of sticking to the plan, that one overly aggressive Army Bde commander basically took it upon himself to invade Baghdad and topple the gov't long before the other supporting units we had planned for were in place, and without bothering to tell anyone in advance. In fact he deliberately covered up his intention because he didn't want his daring thrust to be nixed by higher ups. However because of the great daring, audacity, and success of his operation, he was lauded instead of rebuked. In an order just after the war ended, CENTCOM commander Tommy Franks instructed his generals to "Take as much risk getting out of Iraq as we took getting in. I want everyone gone in 60 days." The disaster that became the Iraqi Insurgency was largely, if not wholly, self-inflicted. Bush did not "push" for this war, Rumsfeld did. This is clearly and indisputably laid out in the book Cobra II. What's more, no one made up WMD claims, it was truly accepted as a given that Saddam had WMD by all parties involved, including the Iraqi military itself. They were the most surprised of all when they found out there were no WMD in a meeting right before the war when Saddam broke the news. In fact, many of his own generals still did not believe the claim at that time. Last edited by m21sniper; 06-10-2008 at 04:33 AM.. |

It is the present. While U.S. men & women are still getting blown to bits over there, I hardly consider it irrelevant or "old news".

Then stick to the SUBJECT at hand....Israel vs Iran and the political fallout in the USA....Iraq is peripheral to the subject at best.

Sadly, Iraq is a central issue because it was so mishandled that the US no longer has the political capital to expend in direct action ourselves, therefore the US will have to rely on a proxy to fight actions we ourselves should be preparing to fight.

Iraq WAS mishandled before the Surge....NOW the USA military and State are on the right track and things are improving dramatically in country....AL Qaedea and Iran are being seen by the Iraqies as meddlers up to no good in their affairs and are being driven out.
Just have a listen to what Col McMasters US ARMY has to say about the strategic situation in Iraq. Petraeus, and the current ambassador are righting the wrongs. These guys avoid the political wrangling that is going on in America. They speak as experts in their field of expertise. They speak not of right or wrong but of what is happening.

I hope Isreal takes care of the "problem". At least they have the balls to do things that we won't or can't. They took out a site years ago and nothing at all happened. Take the battle to the bullies and they will run like rabbits.

Israel attacks Iran. Iran either (1) denies it or (2) makes a big show about how the evil Jewish state has damaged their "peaceful nuclear research initiatives to provide women and children with inexpensive electricity" and closes their oil port, driving oil to about $300 a barrel globally.
Since that would hurt Iran more than the ROW I think the #1 scenario is a bit more likely.

HR McMasters used to be viewed as a superstar, but he's been passed over for promotion twice now. Apparently someone doesn't like his methods or his opinions, or is jealous of his fame.
Shame, he is exactly the kind of General that the US military needs IMO. |

Fallout is limited to pissed off lefties. But they're like women. If they weren't pissed off about this, they'd be pissed off about that.
