LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A woman who says she was hurt by her thong panties when a metal clip flew off and hit her in the eye has sued Victoria's Secret, saying in a TV interview on Thursday that the injury caused her "excruciating pain."

Macrida Patterson, a 52-year-old Los Angeles traffic officer, told NBC's "Today" show that she suffered cuts to her cornea from the small piece of metal that had been used to secure a rhinestone heart onto the blue thong.

"I was putting on my underwear from Victoria's Secret and the metal popped in my eye. It happened really quickly. I was in excruciating pain. I screamed. That's what happened," Patterson told NBC.

Patterson's lawyer Jason Buccat, who also appeared on the "Today" show, said the metal staple causes "severe damage" to her cornea that required a topical steroid.

The product liability lawsuit, which was filed on June 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court and first reported on the Smoking Gun Web site, seeks unspecified damages.

A spokeswoman for Victoria's Secret, which is operated by Limited Brands Inc, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Saw this on the Today show last week. What a POS both the "victim" and the lawyer were. Another scam trying to get money from someone with deep pockets.

She's a traffic officer (not police, traffic. There's a difference). You really expect class/honor from such a person?

Typically cut from the same cloth as metermaids. Born and bred in laboratories to be soulless, uncompassionate and evil.

I can't help but think that karma is involved in this somehow.

I think VS needs to own up to this one. They marketed their product to someone who had no reason to try stuffing all that ass into a thong in the first place. In the future they need to put weight limits on their product instead of size tags.
How fat does one need to be to have their underwear explode and shoot shrapnel into their eye? And what position does one get into in order to have metal parts fly into their eyes when their underwear gives way and explodes?

I checked the VS catalog and don't see this offering any more.

According to the video, this happened over a year ago. I guess it took a while to find a scheister to take the case to court.

They refused to divulge the dollar amount, but various articles say that she is seeking compensation for lost wages and medical expenses. The attorney did say that it was more than $25k.

That's right. Wearing thong underwear, (or tube tops or any midriff-baring item), is a priviledge, not a right.

as you can see, the ass is fat, and as such totally unfit for the size thong she tried to put on... and everybody, i apologize for the mental picture... but it was necessary for our case...contact me if you wanna sue fat ass for mental trauma

Later on, i will produce several expert witnesses, who will testify that she does have a fat ass, and that a thong just is the wrong thing in the wrong time, and that a smaller size thong doesn't mean that the ass will become smaller with it...

IMO, if the metal clip had been appropriately sized for "her" thong...she would have been decapitated
