Something I'd like to do too. I know they are considered a nuissance in Florida and you don't even need a license to kill them...

They are a problem in Texas, but they are all over the South East. You looking for just the hunt, or a real big trophy size or what?

I used to.
Back before I met a nice girl and got married. We would hit the bars right before last call. When I spotted one.... Oh, you meant that kind of pig? Never mind.......

You should change your handle to "Rodeo"--I hear it's unused...

A real manly man would use his new sword.

That said, I would recommend the new .30-30 instead.

Check out the pig hunting in California. Believe it or not, it's one of the top pig hunting states. I have been meaning to get down there and give it a go for some time; it's one of the few critters I have not hunted. Lots of info on the web from the outfitters, game department, and such.

Closer to home, there is a huntable population out on the Peninsula. No license required, no season, and no bag limit. They are feral hogs that everyone just wants gone. It might take some digging to get a lead on them. I hear they are around Forks.

Bow-hunting a wild boar seems to be the fairest of the hunting sports. You have one shot to take down the pig...if you miss, he takes you! (I would still wear a sidearm, though).

I have heard of people using bowie knives to hunt pigs, maybe later when i get stupider

If you find an outfit that hunts in the Pennisula let me know!

Anyone in CA want to go hog hunting?

i arrowed two in texas. best hunting ever, because the meat is so tasty. in my opinion, they are the most difficult animal to hunt ever. you cannot pattern them. there is no method to their travels. in texas it is easier, because you hunt them over a corn flinger. but surprisingly enough, it still wasnt super easy. those things are skittish.

i hike lake sonoma regularly, and i see the torn up landscape all the time. i have only seen animal once, and an entire herd pulled a houdini. they flat out disappeared.

With all the cat sightings in Neb lately I have been concerned the dog might find one when Pheasant hunting.

Jeff -

Thats the way they hunt 'em down in the S. Florida swamps. Dog chase 'em, and duct tape 'em. Bring 'em home, put them in a pen, and corn feed them for a few weeks....

Takes big brass clangers to wade into a pack of dogs and get up close and personal to the porker...

I haven't gone hunting since I became a Christian in 1981. Best place to hunt back then was in the bar after many beers close to closing time. I sure am glad those days are long gone.

I've done it with shotguns trudging thru the lowland marshes. More of a test of will and strength then fun. A mile in and a mile out takes all day.

My dad used to hunt with dogs around Sarasota. They say a mix of curr and pit bull is the best. But once the dogs hunt the are never the same.

I have a receptionist who's son killed a boar with a friggin spear while standing on a swamp buggy. Now thats a challenge. I'll see if I can find the pics.

Geeze, that sure looked like the guy got shot. He was right in the line of fire before he tumbled down the hill.
