Roots
In my sewer. Ugh.
I was taking my morning shower when my wife came up and in a frantic voice informed me that the drain in the laundry room (in the basement) was backing up. Same thing happened to a neighbor across the street and he had to pay $4000 to have a new sewer line run out to the street. I called a sewer guy and he came out and cleaned out the line. Tree roots. Joy. We've been in the house five years and never had a problem. I wonder how long we have before we have to have our front yard excavated...

Just get a plumber to clear it out all the way to the curb. Usually uses a tap in the side or front of the yard; or via a toilet.
If you plan to stay in the house, 5+ years then you should fix it properly. If you can clear it once a year, you might be ok for a few years...
