Sportsmanship

Yes, it's still out there. One can become somewhat jaded watching pro, and even college sports these days. So, we look to a couple of small towns in Eastern Washington and Oregon:

Some one has done a commendable job with these youn ladies.

Too bad this is the exception and not the rule.

Sometimes, occasionally, I feel proud to be a human. Other times, all too often, I feel ashamed. Right now......proud.

I haven't had ESPN or tv for over a year now but am sure I'd rather watch that game than a replay of the '07 world series.

There were no losers on that given day. I had seen that story before but it still is very rewarding to see that degree of character in young people today.

Choked up here too. I never made it past HS varsity baseball, but it was one of the best times of my life. This does bring back memories of my last game as well. No injuries, but still a little sore. I was pulled out out of the last game of my senior year so that a freshman would have the chance to play. Two years earlier, I was pulled out of the last game, so that a senior could "finish" his HS career. I did not hold it against my coach, but I was pissed and it still is with me all these years later.

On the lighter side of things, for tall the negativity that BB gets, it can also be a gentleman's game. True, it can also be a ruthless free for all...

Kudos to the opposite team!

Don't know if you guys followed Rick Reilly when he wrote for SI but he would write some really nice articles about obscure athletes at times as well as little league teams.
