If I could raise $30M, do you think that:
(1) I'd still be living in Long Beach? (2) I'd still be working? (3) I'd still have my "coolest" P-car being a '74 Targa? :) Although I'm up for trying. I don't know how the FIA would respond to interest in a USGP in Long Beach. Personally I think it'd be awesome - F1 used to race here "back in the day". But I seriously doubt there would be much interest in a street circuit like this (then again, they do it in Monaco. . .) and I doubly doubt the local government would get behind it to the extent necessary to be a serious contender for a date. Then again, I suppose nobody knows for sure if nobody asks. . . I'll ask around on some of the open wheel forums - there are still a LOT of people out there that despise T.G. and the IRL, and who are simply pissed off about the demise of Champ Car (which clearly was the better series, with the better equipment and the better drivers). You're also fighting the tide of "stupidification" of America in the rise of NASCAR. Most laypeople out there associate ANYTHING to do with auto racing with NASCAR these days. A tragedy for the sport. Open wheel is a pretty limited demographic, but maybe just maybe there is enough interest to bring it here. I certainly wouldn't hold my breath, but I agree doing ANYTHING is better than doing nothing and just "taking it" from short-sighted imbeciles like T.G. and B.E. |
Live feed if you want to watch now.

Wow!! Heck of a race going on, no spoilers just a heads up to watch this one its very action packed.
|
Absolutely brilliant race. Lots of action. :)
|
1/2 hour for the rebroadcast on Fox this is was exciting race. Hint: Lots of rain + no TC = wild times.
|
Jim it comes on at 12 on fox?
|
It's 1 lap in right now here, I don't know if they're staggering the replay depending on time zones.
|
Looks like that Hamilton guy giving driving lessons!
|
Absolutely retarded move by Ferrari and Renault. I wanted to kick Stefano Domenicali and Smedely for that decision.
|
The ONLY time Hamilton looses is when F1 sponsored Ferrari is inordinately faster.
|
Mule you know you want to be a tifosi.

Ferrari did not have the pace in the wet compounded once again by stupid decisions from the pit wall killed their chances of being competitive today. Notice Kimi was nipping at Hambones heals during the first stint then Domenicali pulls another brilliant move by gambling on a drying track that never happened. That ended Kimi's race, Hambone drive a great race, he did a spin or two as well but all in all McLaren had a better strategy and deserved the win. Lets see if Hambone can make it stick now. |
The kid is so polite & humble. How can you not like him? What he should have said was "I drove those punks into the ground." Instead he says "i think I drove one of my best races today."
The Tiger Woods of F1. |
polite and humble? You need to follow F1 a bit more mule. NO F1 driver is humble. They are all ruthless athletes.
|
Hambone polite and humble??? You must not follow F1 very closely. He has a big mouth and does not know when to keep it shut.
Mule, How would you describe his 10th place finish 2 weeks ago then? Kimi drive him into the ground in the dry? |
Ruben's on wets? Great move, what a finish!
Not changing intermediates? Not such a great move. |
Jim, how would you describe his almost winning the championship as a rookie, in an inferior car?
|
inferior? The Mp4-22 is/was a very capable car.
Take note that in the first races of his F1 season he used Alonso's set-up. Even though I think FA has a bad temper, I prefer him over Lewis anyday. |
Almost winning does not count Mule. No one remembers #2 in F1 only #1.
Again, you must not follow very closely, how was McLaren an inferior car? The championship was his to win in a VERY fast car that Alonso developed. Instead he choked out, all he had to do was finish in the points and he choked. How is McLaren a inferior car this year? Its not, it is one of the top 2 teams and its a coin toss at each track as to who is going to be faster. Its o.k. you seem like you are into this now, watch the rest of the season and keep arguing its fun. You have to start somewhere, after a few season or several you will understand better. Both Ferrari and McLaren are declining and I would not be surprised to see Honda and Renault dominating next season. Both Ferrari and McLaren have lost their their key driver in developing the cars further. That being Schumacher and Alonso respectively. The gap between them and the rest of the field is diminishing and by next year with the new rules and lack of development we could see a switch at the front. |
Jim we seem to be making the same exact points. I am relatively new to F1, and jim has helped out my development to the sport immensely. To really understand the report you have to read everything, not just watch the race.
It's taken me awhile, but I get it all know. |
