just had a discussion with a co-worker on this Israel Iran thing.
The hypothetical scenario evolved into iran shooting a missle at Israel. Israel drops a nuke. russia sends a nuke at Israel, we shoot it down and retaliate with hundreds of nukes to take out their nuke offensive capabilities. We blow up their silos. They send what they got left. We get some but the rest hit us. We send every nuke we have, and then we both looked at each other and said the same thing at exactly the same time: WOLVERINES! (red dawn reference). It would actually be pretty funny if it weren't so dark. |

You know, CNN and Reuters need to not just except every story that comes thier way. Isn't there some kind of journalistic ethics that they're supposed to follow?
Here's a couple of typical Reuter's stories:  A Lebanese woman wails after looking at the wreckage of her apartment, in a building, that was demolished by the Israeli attacks in southern Beirut July 22, 2006. REUTERS/Issam Kobeisi  A Lebanese woman reacts at the destruction after she came to inspect her house in the suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, after Israeli warplanes repeatedly bombed the area overnight. Israeli commandos attacked near the southern city of Tyre early Saturday but were repelled by Hezbollah guerrillas who killed an Israeli member of the force and wounded others, the group said in a statement. (AP Photo/Hussein Malla) It's the same woman!!! She got bombed on July 22nd and then again on August 5. That's either the unluckiest Lebanese woman ever or Reuters loves this story so much that they don't even want to check to see if it's real. Oh, and I love the way the Hezbollah guerrillas repeled the Israelis and saved the day. Nice job Hezbollah! Even though they couldn't save that ladies apartment complex.

A more accurate mental exercise would be:
Israel thinks Iran is getting close to the nuke and does an airstrike on the nuclear facilities.. Iran uses a "suitcase" nuke they bought from Russia and detonates it in the westbank/Tel Aviv, fill in the blank with where ever you think is best. Declares they Kick ass!, Take that West and Israel! Israel nukes Tehran. This would cause massive casualties. Tehran is an almost perfect mountain backdrop target from my understanding. If Israel is really pissed very few people of the 20 odd million living in the city and immediate environs would survive. Most Arabic nations declare war on Israel due to the Nuking. Israel whupps them again. Perhaps a few more places get the Mushroom cloud. Everyone talks about how horribly it all is, and we keep pumping oil.
