Things I didn't learn in public school....

Anybody care to inform what "M.S., B.C.B.A" stands for? As in "Sincerely Bob Smith M.S., B.C.B.A".

You may feel that way but even on your best day you're not half the man he is.

Your probably right as usual....however your friend might not share your opinion after talking with me...

Most of these guyz have book learnin and are short on the practical side of the equation. I have the practical with the analytical of putting the pieces of the puzzle together in just about every combination there is...35 years worth...

One of my best friends has been in practice for nearly 40 years has his PhD in Shrinkdom from USC, his degree in Theology from Fuller Seminary...his wife has a PHD in Shrinkdom from USC as well and has been in practice for over 30 years. He is the associate dean as well, of a U in CA where he oversees PHD candidates in shrinkdom. Some of his former student are now running programs in other U's and colleges that award those MS degrees in what was it again... BCBA...

Another friend now passed on (another PhD from USC), was a WW2 fighter pilot was the co/founder of Fuller Seminarys Grad school for shrinkdom. That is one he11 of a stroy in of itself.

My friend had one of the cleanest early 66 911's you ever saw...steel wheels with the wood dash and steering wheel. Wrecked it while going over the Arroyo Seco bridge in Pasadena.

Nobody's "gotta" put that in, they've EARNED the right to put that in. Do you have a problem with people stating what they've earned? I mean, you're sig is FULL of crappola, which I assume you've "earned"...and your "see, I was right!" threads just scream of "earning" stuff.

I got tired of adding my certifications. People kept asking what they meant and I became tired of explaining them.

I got tired of correcting people when they introduced me as Dr...and I never corrected them at conferences...that would be bad.

Oh, I see. So I should put my resume on every corresponsence? I should attach my pay stub on every e-mail?
When I ordered new business cards the secretary asked if I wanted P.E. after my name, I said no. Anyone who would be impressed by that is not someone I have time for.

Does what you do require that you have your PE? I'd be pretty sure that If I went to a Behavior Analyst who did that have "Dr." in front of their name, then I would surely want to know what they DID have. Putting "M.S." there seems perfectly legitimate, and useful to the person receiving the business card.

If your job requires a PE, and you do not let your clients know that you have a PE, then how can they possible what to take you on for their work?

I can see putting professional certs on a business card or on an automatic email signature because it could affect whether or not you get a customer.

I don't put PE after my name on anything else unless it's required like on an engineering evaluation, inspection, or drawing.

In business settings it is perfectly acceptable to add PE, MS, Dr., etc. But in personal settings it is just ego stroking.

I called a family friend (at a BBQ) Mr. Tuttle one time and he said, "the name is Dr. Tuttle". I laughed and replied, "then you can call me Engineer Weeks."

He was a vet to. So it made it that much funnier.

No offense to vets, keep up the good work.
