What car would you own if the maintenance was free?

Okay, let's say you could buy any classic car of your choice and drive it as long and hard as you wanted while never having to pay a dime for maintenance (labor or replacement parts) as long as you kept the car relatively stock? All you would have to pay for is the car, insurance, registration, fuel, and any basic bolt-on performance parts you wanted.

I would buy a Ferrari Testarossa. I know they have problems but I love the look and sound, and they are actually in a price range that with a little luck I could manage. I seriously thought about buying one at one time but the stratospherically high price of parts and the difficulty of repairs scared me far, far away. So what would your choice be?

That might have been my pick too, but I will never be able to come even close to afording one. :(

I think this would mean a 330 (possibly; they USED to be dirt cheap).

If no F cars would work i'd give serious consideration to a really clean 928 for DD duty or maybe even a 99-01 M5.

Miura, Countach, Urraco, Dino, Mangusta, BMW 507, 512BBi, any 1960's F car, 906 and an Espada as a daily driver!

Easy: Testarossa or Jag E-type.

In all seriousness probably a V12 BMW like the 850 or an older V12 Mercedes like the SL600 convertible. Both incredible rides, but the maintenance costs are downright scary.

land rover defender. hands down winner for me.

You mean maint. costs are all that's holding you back from buying a multi-million dollar Ferrari? If you have that kind of cash, maint. costs shouldn't be an issue.

I would like an Alfa Romeo GTV, but I hear they are maint. nightmares.

The Gaijin 07-08-2008 06:43 AM

4 cam 550.

So in this deal if my Muira bursts into flame (which they were know to do) do I get a new one?

No, but you do get a free frame-up rebuild. ;)
