Lounging Pool/Jacuzzi

Built a new house.

Has a concrete arbor out back.



It's a 12x15 pad.

Wife wants to put in Jacuzii.

I had an idea.

What if I wall in between the posts maybe 3 ft high and tile it.

I can make a nice big lounging pool.

Should be able to run piping to create either a giant jacuzzi (think it's too big for that) or specific jacuzzi area.

Maybe put some seats/stools in and a bar at one end.

Come outside the footprint with full width steps on three sides.

Wife thinks I'm nuts.

She's right Go with a Jacuzzi spa. You'll need to run electric and gas which will require a 24" trench and permit.

From a dollar standpoint, I'd agree. You can buy something pre-fab for much less time/trouble/$$$ it would take to build something from scratch. How thick is that slab? Do you have any idea how much 12' x 15' of water weighs?

Edit: I see you're in TX. Just throw a big pick-up truck bedliner in there and call it a day...

Actually that's about the only thing on the houses that's the same.

Every house is a custom job.

Different color trim, different stone, different elevations, 10 different models so out of the 30 or so in the development each model is only repeated 3 maybe 4 times. But then with all the trim, stone and elevation variations even those don't look alike.

Those posts are made to handle vertical stress, not horizontal stress. I think you wall it in and put in water, those posts and walls are going to collapse outward.

Pack up and come on down.

It's an amazing place to live.

Lubby is right around the corner.

It's a golf course community so you can get a spread on a green.

Schools are inside the development, limit of 22 kids per class. It's like sending them to private school without the added expense.

A small swimming pool and playground every few blocks plus two large rec centers with gyms, b-ball, tennis.

Hiking/jogging paths.

Nightly driveway tailgates.
