Ya' know....I don't think I like 'em any more either !!

I spent time watching clowns - seems there are two basic types:
1) Red Nose Clowns - fools that are all about slapstick humor, defying death but always on the edge of it.
2) White Face Clowns - humor based on gags and magic, look to hurt the Red Nose types.

Sometimes when you look to reduce the emotion and increase the logic it takes away the fear factor altogether.

I had a friend in that neighborhood when I was about 10.

What's funny is, all of us kids knew he was a Bad Man, you could just tell. It was only the adults that couldn't see that. He would cruise by, and you could see it in his eyes...at that age, you didn't know what you were seeing, but you knew that it made your lizard brain do flipflops.
