A bit of help to save an historic place pls?

I have been on the PPOT list for a long time now and rarely ask for help like this. This time is different. Tempelhof Central Airport, where the Berlin Airlift was based right after WW2 is going to be closed. It was a US Air Force base for many years after the war and was one of the main bases that was used to defeat Communism in the last 1980's. We have tried for many years to keep it open but the govt will not listen. Ok, so it will not be an airport any longer. We could live with that. Now the govt is making noises about turning it over to the real estate jokers, who would carve it up into housing and office complex's. We would at least like to save it as a piece of history that it is. Anyone could could take a minute and sign this petition, would really appreciate it. The petition is in English and German, so no problems understanding it. They are over 5000 signatures now, from people all over the world. The URL that takes you to the petition is below. Thanks, Joe A http://www.tempelhof-weltkulturerbe.de/

Thought this was going to be about Yankee Stadium. The wife and I are not even BB fans and we are both perplexed at how the most famous and storied arena in the world, with the exception of the Coliseum in Rome, could meet such a fate. OK, rant off. Please don't hi jack Joes thread. Signed for you Joe. Good Luck.

Hey Joe, so now you're taking on the property developers? Worried about the common weal? Looking for government intervention? Concerned about posterity? What next? The spotted owl? Save the whales? Global warming? Have you had a socialist epiphany somewhere along the road? Free market forces not good enough for you anymore? ....Hey...just pulling your plonker... Actually I've signed a couple of these petitions in the past. I was born just a couple of hundred yards from Tempelhof - so this is a subject dear to my heart.

Done. I think I am signature 5,814. As for Yankee stadium, I am surprised at the lack of nostalgia for the stadium unlike Wrigley or Fenway.

I'm on board. If you need an architectural firm with experience in historic preservation and airport terminals. . .

Done. I have signed three more petitions like this here in France. Certainly Berlin should preseve a part for a memorial.

This is a bit of what happened at TCA: And yes, the US Army had a large presence there! Thanks for everyone's support!
