Don't know and don't care, I've never tasted a starbucks product in my life.
A large coffee costs me a buck and a quarter. I would feel dumb paying as much as some people do for coffee or whatever stupid name they've dreamed up for it this week.

We never had a Starbucks in our town. We like our coffee fresh, black, and a 1.00 price. I dont feel sorry for them. They built stores we KNEW would'nt make it. Oh well, see ya later, and dont let the door hit your ass on the way out.

A few things eating Starbucks alive:

There is something to the store saturation...I live in a blue collar county where the Main street has 2 Starbuck's stores 1 mile apart. A local Barnes and Noble bookstore has had a Starbucks Cafe in it for 10 years, then they open up a Starbucks in a stripmall literally across the parking lot last year. Yes, its closing.

Fuel is way up, so disposable cash in the blue collar world is way down, and the fuel issue double whammys Sbucks.

Last, if you're charging over FOUR DOLLARS for a cup of coffee and are still losing money, you've got a serious supply chain issue or need someone new working your leases on your store fronts.

Store #10554 - I did the surveying for the construction of that one. I remember it well it was one of the first stand alone stores in the area.

It seems like it was opened up maybe 3 years ago.

While I never understood the attraction to the worlds most bitter coffee, I am saddened by the news of another retailer feeling the pain of the slowing economy.

NOPI (Number One Parts Inc) a huge import supplier that puts on its own racing series just canceled all its remaining events for this year and will not commit to next year citing terrible losses and economic slowing.

Hooters is closing stores, the Big 3 Auto manufacturers are cutting back. Scary things are happening right now.

There is a group of cars that meets on PCH in Dana Point every Saturday, at a Starbucks. I asked the people working there this morning how many in Dana Point were closing, they said none. I don't know how many are here, seems like 10.
