Detached Garage Security System/Alarm Recommendations
Folks,
I have been building a detached garage and would like to install a security/alarm system before I finish the interior (provides option for a wired alarm system). I'm looking for recommendations for a simple alarm system that will cover a window, a walk in door, the garage door and have a motion sensor. I don't plan on a service or phone tie in; just a loud alarm if someone breaks in. Also prefer remote activation/deactivation. Appreciate any recommendations on what to look for and if possible specific systems that would fit my needs. Google search turns up way to much biased advertising/BS to sift through. Gordo

DeWalt makes a nice system. I sell these. When you aren't using it in your garage, you can pop it in your car and it becomes a DIY Lo-jack:

If you just want to make noise, Home Depot sells motion detector alarms that are loud as hell for $19/ea. They are pretty reliable. I've never had one trip false.
