you are supporting a different argument. Of course there can be Other reasons to do something. But, Why do it for some BS reason of "carbon foot print"? --yes, Mule may have well have asked "why worry about pissing off a Manbearpig ...surely someone else will piss him off first"

I know this is old but it still shows Algor in his true self, do as I say not do as I do, and do it with other peoples money.

The Bush house in Texas and Algors house.

That was used because he had used it first. however, I view "carbon footprint" in a more generic way of "our influence on the world right around us" rather than some glorified artificial mathematical Gore creation. Yes, I feel that we leave a "footprint" on nature as we live here, and yes, I think that putting as small of a footprint on that nature as reasonably possible is simply prudent, moral and decent. It happens that in most cases, by doing that, you also save yourself some money and aggravation...double deal!

If Mule took 5% of the effort he puts into scanning the blogs for stories to repost, and put that effort into changing his own actions, then he would (1) have exerted the same total effort, and (2) changed his environment for the better in some small way. Trust me, that 5% of the reposted blogs that we would miss out of would NOT ruin anyone's heart, we'd still be getting 95% of them to love and read and enjoy.

Pot, meet kettle.

I already have restricted my blogging reposts to 95%, therefore, I'm better than you. I'm a trend setter, a new waver, I'm the future man.

And I know how to answer simple questions that are posed to me. That makes me better than you a well.

I saw Brokaw interview Gore on MSNBC last night. I was stunned, Brokaw actually laid into him a bit about quite a few topics.

Al's defense for having a 10,000sq foot mansion was, "No one is perfect."

10 years to do this is foolish

The permits couldn't be obtained in 10 years, the econuts would see to that.
Carbon only makes up .03% of dry air in our atmosphere, water vapor and the sun control the earths temperature. The reason carbon was picked to go after is it is a byproduct of automobile exhaust and the taxing authorities and econuts think they can make a lot of money.

Those two statements are not causally related. Saying "only makes up .03%" doesn't really mean anything....03% could be significant or not.

I mean, ozone is "only" 0.00006% of the dry air, yet it is responsible for cutting about 70% of the total UV solar flux...pretty significant for something that is 500 times rarer than atmospheric CO2...

And not related to the discussion. Cel correctly pointed out that the sun & water vapor control temperature. Carbon is about instituting socialism!

Oh, it is quite directly related to the discussion. The atmospheric dynamics are NOT simply some little 2 variable equation, despite what some blogger told you. The stasis condition of the O3 and CO2 levels from complex construction/destruction processes is of the utmost importance, and those things are NOT directly related to water vapor levels. However, what is NOT important to this discussion is the two non-causal statements that he made, written in such a way as to (1) show causality that doesn't exist and (2) make yet ANOTHER political statement, just as you did. Keep your stinking politics out of science, they don't belong there. As long as people here keep abusing the basic tenants of science for their own personal agenda, I'll keep calling them on it.

If it saves me money I will do it...One day all the houses in the SW will have solar panels on the roof....and will sell electricity to the grid during the day and buy back at night. The cost of the panels will have to cme down and tax credits given (CA & NV have had them). Problem is now the cost of installation and payback via savings is too great a lenght of time. Once a new generation of solar cells is available at a lower cost it will happen.
