Are Coffee Grounds Really Good For Plants?

Or is it an old wives tale?

I drink a fair bit of the stuff, so was wondering if I should be using it as a fertilizer?

Your thoughts?
Yasin

Works good for that new Mexican/Arkansas cross-bred blend hemp.

I'm wondering the same thing, someone told me I should be dumping my coffee grounds around my avocado tree because they love it.

You can mix those up with all fruit and veggie scraps in a container in your kitchen--shake it every now and then and it turns into a nice compost

It's OK (as long as it's not Starbucks coffee):

I keep my Starbucks coffee grounds under my Harley to soak up the oil drips...

I'm not certain but I think they are too acid for most soil.

Roses like the coffee grounds but it is like smoking dope for Glaucoma, you can't smoke enough, the medicine is better, and you can buy better fertilizer for the plants. It doesn't hurt them and what else do you have to do with the grounds.

I don't know about coffee grounds, but our plants loved rabbit pellets when we had a pet bunny.

almost every place here recycles their grounds into compost for plants - it is highly sought after

no idea if it needs extra treatment for acidity or whatever

call up the Agr. Ext. Office for your county - you are already paying tax dollars for them to advise you (actually to advise farmers, but they xlnt gardening advisors too)

I've added them to my compost piles forever...learned the trick from my mother, who learned it from her mother. Worms seem to love 'em as well...

earthworms eat the stuff. and the plants like the nitrogen it provides. i dump all of mine into my potted veggies. nothing has died yet. but i do wonder if you need to compost it first. i dont have the space or energy to do a compost pile.

Coffee grounds and dish soap work better than hand cleaner and it wakes up your hands!
