Ouboard Engine Help? Anybody with a little more knowledge than me?

I have a 1995 Yamaha 115 - carbed - oil injected. While running with the family yesterday - I noticed a change in the engine pitch - looked back and saw blue smoke coming out of the exhaust so shut it off.

Then noticed 2 stroke oil coming out of the intake (OK, poured) when I pulled the cover off the engine and seeping around the cowling. Quite a bit!

So got a tow back to the lift - cleaned the area up with some simple green - Took off the intake and didn't notice anything (other than more oil dripping out) - there was a hose off the bottom of the plastic intake which I returned - but that might have been from when I pulled it off with the carb cover.

I tried starting again and killed ALOT of Mosquitoes SO shut it down quickly.

I'm guessing maybe it's the oil injection pump or maybe my carbs need to be rebuilt?

The engine mounted oil container was at the normal level [maximum hash-mark]. The engine still started.

Any ideas? I'm thinking the Oil injection pump is acting up - it feeds into the carbs - I think the carbs need rebuilding too as I have had to feather the throttles to keep it from bogging. Any ideas from the pelican braintrust?

Strange that I feel SO much more comfortable with a Porsche engine...

Sure sounds like the oil injection pump is not working correctly and pumping too much oil into the carbs.

However, as I recall, the Yamaha injection system is different than say my Johnson or an Evenrude. I think it injects directly into the manifold and not into the carbs. They also have a vent line from the oil tank that can get clogged and overpressurize the tank and a check valve that also controls the oil injection. You will probably need to get the engine manual to track all of this down. I would much rather have a problem with too much oil than not enough. Worst case scenario is you can always remove the oil injection and just mix the oil in with your gas manually.
