Somewhere in my pile of old R&T magazines, there's a Peter Egan article about driving across the US in a Westfield Eleven reproduction.

This too is one of my all time favorite cars . When the Westfield came out I really wanted one but was lacking funds and a place to work on/store the car .

I have a neighbor ( about 1/2 a mile away ) that I've known for many years from our local mini club that collects and vintage races Lotus cars . Roger Seiling is known as " Mr. Lotus " because of his working knowledge of the cars . If you need any help or information I could get you in touch with Roger . He is a no nonsense guy .

He was there at Sebring for the 50th Anniversary of the 11 with his 11 .

There is also information at the above link for the HLR ( Historic Lotus Register ) .

Toward the bottom of the page ( second row from bottom ) is a pic of Roger racing another one of his cars in this link ..... http://www.svra.com/SVRA/PhotoGal.nsf/plinks/EJEN-63BTLR .

I should have bought a Lotus Formula Ford (FF) about 10 years ago that was offered in the local paper for $3k . A steal at that ....

I'm very happy for you and if you'd like contact info for Roger Seiling PM me , I'd like to help in your quest any way I can .

SxS ( who thinks this is way cool )

Updates disappeared several weeks ago. Could this barn-find have evaporated?

I was hoping to get an update. In the very early 1980's Peter Egan had the build articles and subsequent drive of the Westfield 11 in R&T. Those articles made me really want to build that car. But, I was in college and broke.

Fast forward to the early 1990's and I came across a guy (in Hemmings Motor News) who bought and sold uncompleted Westfield projects. At that time I had my first born son and another on the way and couldn't afford it.

Around 2000 I decided the time was right and called Chris Smith (actually, I spoke with his daughter) and she told me that they were not making the kit. However, they were planning to relaunch an updated kit because of the many requests. When the new edition was released I was in the middle of a job change/relocation and the timing was wrong.

Now, I'm older and like my comforts too much. I guess a GT3 is about as "raw" as I would care to get these days. However, I still love the looks of the Westfield 11 and still like to fantasize about building one!
