Garage Door Opener

The electrical trip switch at the door end of my Genie chain drive G Door opener fell off. So I put it back on and tried for the right spot. WHile up there, I notic4ed thre was another trip switch at the motor end of the rail. I left it alone. Also, the rail at the door end was coming loose, so I screwed it back in - I also tightened the loose blots holding the thing together at that end and put green loctite on them.

Before, you just had to touch a button and the door would open all the way or close all the way.

Now, you have to hold the button down continuously to get it to close.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the sensors need to be adjusted. when you hold the button you are "forcing" the door against an abnormal condition. the only thing that will defeat what you are doing is a physical block of the door.

If the electrical trip switch next to the floor is a photo cell sensor(looks like a lens), it has line up perfectly in order to recieve the lazer signal from the other side.
If it doesn't get that signal, then it "thinks" there is something in the way, and will want to open the door for saftey.

My sensors are mounted near the opener, about 3" apart. They don't need adjusted.
