Third episode on HBO tonight.. pretty graphic.. the usual anti-war slant but well done

I caught it last week and liked it a lot. The sniper scene was pretty cool. Notice how they all have lens caps on their scopes with small slits cut in them? Yet, when they show the view through the scope, it's a full view? Yeah, right.

Great show. Although, it appears that they have toned down the lanugauage and vulgarity for television.
That MSgt. is great: "you WILL po-lice that mooostache!" The actual Iraq comm chatter at the end credits is pretty cool too.

Regarding the scopes, I believe that is just added "kill flash". It shouldn't affect field of view, but does reduce the scopes light gathering a bit. But in a place like Iraq, that is only a minor issue, and only at dusk/dawn.

There was a big screening of the first show here at Camp Pendleton where the guys in the show are/were stationed and it was a pretty big hit. From what several of my students told me the Gunny was just like that and so were most all the screw ups such as its okay for loosing the truck of M16s, ammo and C4 but raising hell about loosing a helmet!
