NO he isn't all we've had. And that is the reason why we've had only one losing season in the past 17 years. Under Holmgren he was great and won all the MVPs. Holmgren kept him under control and wouldn't put up with his crazy throws. After that he was out of control and just killed us with his interceptions. In the Packers last 6 playoff games he has thrown 18 interceptions. Twice he threw overtime interceptions that lost us the game. Last year Favre had a resurgence mainly because the new coach and GM forced him to come into camp, watch film and not put up with his crazy throws. Favre was interviewed and said he didn't like how the GM was building the team. He wanted his guy made coach and he buddies resigned. The GM didn't listen so Favre took his ball and went home.

i hear dallas needs a real QB

m21sniper 07-30-2008 02:09 PM

Man don't even say things like that. Dallas would be a lock to go to the superbowl with favre at QB.

Jim Richards 07-30-2008 02:20 PM

Nah. He blows the big games like his name is Tony Romo.

hmmmmm I guess you know more than these guys? :)

Favre now owns a unique no-trade clause

If the Packers agree to trade Favre to any team, the quarterback can veto the deal simply by declining to report. Then Favre's rights would revert back to Green Bay, which would be forced to take him back along with his $12 million base salary -- or release him.

It's not clear whether Favre would agree to play for either team. Favre essentially could block any proposed trade by refusing to come out of retirement if he is dealt to a club for which he doesn't want to play.

It'll be great to see Favre come back and defend that All Time Interception record....

Yeah but Tony Romo blows lots of the little games too. ;)

Those articles were written prior to his reinstatement (which actually won't probably happen until tomorrow or Friday). As I said before, while he is still inactive/retired, the Packers can't trade him if he doesn't want to be traded. After he is reinstated and on the Packers active roster, his rights can be traded to any team the Packers strike a deal with. That's when he loses all his bargaining power. Watch for it to happen...

Romo blows the little ones? They were 13-3. Granted he chokes for the ones that count.

Jim Richards 07-30-2008 03:11 PM

like Favre

m21sniper 07-30-2008 03:15 PM

Like McNabb. :-/

At least Favre won a Superbowl.

Jim Richards 07-30-2008 03:24 PM

...almost a dozen years ago.

m21sniper 07-30-2008 03:26 PM

Look, it took Elway a dozen years to even win his first. Before that he was considered a total choke artist. Favre still has the physical tools to be effective. Now many consider him one of the best to ever play.

Put Favre on the right team, who knows. He is clearly better than Tony Romo, at any rate.

mattdavis11 07-30-2008 04:08 PM

I'd like to see Favre in a Philly uniform. They need all the help they can get. McNabb just can't get it done. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Brett lace it up for the Clownboys. He'd finally kick the 0-fer record in Dallas if he played for the home team.

mb911 07-30-2008 04:17 PM

local news and Mike mcarthy are starting to talk as if Brett will be back for this season. We will see.

carambola 07-30-2008 05:07 PM

i thought he only wanted to come back in no win situations

Buckterrier 07-30-2008 05:38 PM

I'm tired of hearing about his ass.

Porsche-O-Phile 07-30-2008 05:42 PM

Sorry, but I just think Favre is being incredibly selfish in this situation. He RETIRED last year, meaning his (former) team retooled themselves and put themselves in the mode of "ok it's time to groom a new QB and build a new contending team around him". I'm sure they invested a lot of time/energy/expense in figuring out their game plan to do this. And then Brett sees training camp starting up and starts thinking about glory days (cue Bruce Springsteen) and now wants back in. C'mon dude. You ended on a great note - you were one TD drive away from the Superbowl after an extremely distinguished career and you've got your championship ring to show for it. Let it go. Don't be a Michael Jordan.

I'm not buying it, unless it's for a short stay while a trade is being put together. McCarthy is saying what he needs to say to not damage Favre's trade value, and also to make the press go away and let him get his team ready.

mattdavis11 07-30-2008 06:00 PM

Oooohhhh, but how sweet would it be if Favre suited up for the Pats and led them to an undefeated season and then went on to win the SB? The Pats do have a need for a QB that can win the big ones without Vinatieri.

Favre in a Pats uni. Now that's a good match.
